Here we are members into the new year and as far as I can read and see, no one, no, not one member has said what they got for Christmas!
I know some of us were good, everybody couldn't have been naught, somebody had to be good and nice enough to get a present?
The question is WHO?
I had expected to read where some lovely wife had gotten a Mercedes or a Lexus car! Maybe a good husband was given a dressed up Truck he been wanting for years!

Dusti, I can see much better all around and my computer too but I need the reading glasses a little less than 250 to read small print and numbers like on my credit cards. I got a pair at Wal-Mart for 9.88, not bad for reading glasses I think! The VA did the surgery and a couple of my Wal-Mart coffee gang in McDonald's said they got the surgery at the Lasik place for a couple thousands. I been wearing glasses since a teenager.

Many of us lived to see yet another year that wasn't promised to us!! We still have a long way to go in our recoveries from the strokes or our care giving but I feel we can make the trip a little at a time! Each year gets harder and harder but our will power keeps us moving in the right directions by God!!
I do feel for the couple in this world that has been together for nearly all their lives then he decided to shoot and kill the wife for no apparent reason then turn the gun on himself!!
Stroke Survival is a very hard mission to handle alone or in a group because so many things can bring you down and not much to lift you up.... The human brain can only process so much and remember it was affected by the stroke too..... So I think time has to pass and healing has to happen over time to process our healing process with what we got left in our bodies and brain....
Therefore we can't just sit down and say O'well, we must stay active and do all we can for our bodies to heal over
We all experience many different things with strokes and as I think back to 2004, my left side was paralyzed but I was walking pretty good and going any place I needed to go mostly by myself... Well now I feel displaced with the stroke in that I can hardly walk without thinking of falling while I use my quad cane all over again... Obviously at some point soon I hope to be better, get better, with my walking and getting around on my feet too where I'm not afraid to go places anymore...

I'm still at home with the little dog while my grand daughter is back in school and by the way she turns 11 years old tomorrow the 17th... I guess she will have plenty to say when I pick her up after school tomorrow...

My past time is keeping up with the football schedules to watch as many games as I got time to see.... I watch college and the Pro schedules too and already I wonder how Tom Brady and the Patriots will do this season??? He will be under a watchful eye of the NFL for sure after the news today that he destroyed his cell phone as if to hide something he didn't want anyone else to ever know about him....
So I will see what team this season win the most games and make it to the Superbowl!!!!!! If
My little wife got so many irons in the fire until she forgets how much stuff is being done while she is at work very day. It was supposed to be completed in three days, not so, they are still hammering away downstairs today but still got to remove the carpet from the staircase and install the laminated wood there after they finish the rooms downstairs today I hope. They are leaving that for last since I use the lift going up and down the stairs all day long.

It's that time of the year here in central Texas, the sun shines daily where wearing flip flops, shorts, and nothing more, is the norm!! Many stores have put up signs on the doors or in the windows saying "no shirt, no shoes, No service." Some stores don't allow swim suits either for men, women or kids!! Walmart is one of them and a couple of the grocery stores too!!
For me it's a time to get out and about and see how the city is growing with homes and businesses being built in the neighborh
I'm dealing with a lot on my plate and have been for some time now but healing my body is my main goal so I can attend church again and many more things I just haven't been quite able to accomplish on my own.... My wife is such a wonderful caregiver and holding down a full time job too at the bank.....
She quit her job for two years when I first had the stroke and I got better and went to work for three years at Walmart as a greeter using my scooter as all life was good for both of us.... It
As I sit here at home now and my wife has finished all her hospitalization and surgeries I feel it's time to go to the casino again..... It may have to be on the week ends since she is trying to also return to work at the bank while she is feeling much better..... She needs to be moving around and walking some to get her strength back...... We shall see what goes in the next few days......
My condition hasn't changed very much from 12 years ago as I am still doing for myself and got a lady coming in 5 days a week for one hour to help me with my socks and shoes and caring for my feet which is very hard for me to reach and do myself.... that's a big help every morning.... My wife helps me with bathing or showering at night so the VA cut me down to one hour for help coming in home....
She helps me with the exercise bike too that helps with my paralyzed side which I can't use very
Life goes on and I got plenty rest the last few days now I'm ready to watch all the football games they can show on TV for the next few days..... I'm not going out shopping can't fight the big crowds and bargain hunters that will bust in the doors early as possible..... I guess that gets folks out the house but I stay home anyway so I am OK with that..... I just enjoy being home with the two little dogs as they keep me company all the time.....

One more eye to go for cataract surgery on the 16th with pre-opt stuff on the 13th. That's an all day affair at the VA. Then the day of surgery my wife has to drive me there and back as I will again have to wear that eye patch home. This time I won't be nervous at all now that I know they will not be cutting on my eye. I never thought about laser I was thinking scalpel in my eye. But it's neat they give you a card to carry around with you showing you have had eye surgery and a lens placed in you
Most of you may remember my last blog about going to Vegas well this may be my last blog for quite some time...See I now must get operated on my right knee I think on the 12th next Friday. I hurt my knee trying to ride the shuttle busses. My right knee has separated at the joint and has to be rejoined with surgery!! I will be out of commission for many months after they sew my knee up to heal then learn to walk without help as I am walking with help only not on my own or even with a cane. I have
"My how time slips away" today is the last day in November so Christmas is so close and to get you in the holiday spirit just go to the stores, Walmart, Kmart, the malls and yes the grocery stores too!! They are all ready for Christmas! Lowe's, Walmart, Home Depot and others are ready with fresh cut live trees and all the decorations you ever wanted for your yard, house top, doors or any place you want to put up decoration they got you covered for sure!!

Well, we made the year, and tomorrow is the dawn of yet another year, 2009, hope you all have much success and recovery through out the year. For me it's five big years on the 15th of January 2009. It doesn't seem that long but I guess time slips away when you are having fun.

We made it back and in good shape with a little resting up. Everything went as planned...Almost...I lost on the quarter machine, about 60 bucks in all, then I played the dollar machine and won a fist full of dollars. I kept playing it for about two hours and it paid off several times. The biggest one was 750 dollars then I hit several 80's, 120's so I quit with a cash out ticket for 900 bucks. I couldn't reach a thousand dollars.

Well, we made it back yesterday from my brother's funeral and Home Going services. It was a trying time for me since he was a month away from his 89th birthday. He was a devoted Christian Like our mom was. I learned he was also a deacon in his church and was always there for duty. In fact I remember he joined that same church way back in 1950 and been active there since. He was given a great funeral in all respects.
We only had one brother and one sister that was unable to attend by being so

Well we planned a trip to do a bit of gambling but had to cancel. So many other things came up as usual when you make plans to go some place. The money won't spoil but could shrink some as we discovered there were other items that needed our undivided attention here at home.
