The power to overcome is really yours! It's how you think you "Can't and Won't" I learned a great lesson yesterday in church. It all starts with how you believe. Do you believe you can't or do you believe you won't?? When YOU really believe in God as so many of us claim then it should be easy for us to TRUST in Him!
"I just can't get along with my wife."..."My husband and I can't communicate."..."I just can't discipline the kids as I should."..."I just can't give up the affair I'm having."..
We all have need for prayer, it's the power of prayer we ask in God's name just as Christ Jesus did so often. Every one here stands in the need of prayer. When asked, I pray with you and for your needs.

I hope many of you around the country can get to see your local news stations or CNN sometimes today of the coverage they provided here in Texas of the explosion in the city of West, Texas. Many of the first responders from the fire departments across some cities were killed and some residents in homes and a nearby nursing home was affected. Many people old and young were injured from the blast of the fertilizer plant that caught so many by surprise. It's so great we can honor all our fallen her
Well I don't know about all my fellow members here but for me I got the Christmas tree out on the curb this morning for pick up by the city disposal services! My pick up day is Thursdays and I couldn't wait another week to take it down!! Last year I was late putting it out for trash collection and it stayed there on the curb for two weeks before I had to dispose of it myself and that was a job for a man using one hand!!
Now my wife and granddaughter can set the dinning room back up where I c
Well all my dear members, the new year is upon us, I don't make resolutions, never have, but I pray we are all still above ground when it arrives on Saturday. I can't stress enough to be careful as in most cases it's the other person not paying attention that can take our lives in a second.
What worries me the most is people driving and texting resulting in a head on collision and certain death of innocent persons! So for me and my family, we stay home say our prayers count our blessings and
The new year is upon all of us. In Japan it's the year of the Dog and starts a little later than in the US. The year of the rooster wasn't that great for the whole wide world. Could things improve, will the big ball drop ok in times square, will Dick Clark, at the age of 76,stroke survivor, be alright????
I guess we will have to wait until TOMORROW NIGHT for the answers. Here's hoping a HAPPY NEW YEAR for all the members of Strokenet and FOUNDERS especially, for a great place to exercise ou
We have turned the page on our calendars so March is here along with daylight Saving Time next week on the 8th... We set our clocks ahead in many of the states so our kiddos will have more daylight while going out to catch the school busses... Then we will be ready for St. Patrick's Day on the 17th and the first day of Spring on the 20th... It's hard to see this much snow piled so high this month and some cars still covered up in their parking spaces....
It's still hard to look outside and s
This is Punography, a blog of my mind on a noonday Monday and morning after a week and weekend where I was with people more severe injuries than myself and many of them had prosthetic limbs! These people has fought in wars where they were ordered to go whether they wanted to or not they had no choice in the matter!
Actually one of the troops gave it to me in stressing how the mind works in a human brain when you have no choice BUT to live as long as you can with what you got LEFT of a brain
Well our government does what it has to do on each military base and that means people will be laid off both military and civilians alike... Unemployment will rise for sure and the minimum wages probably will not be given to all workers...
I guess this move by the government has been approved by all heads concerned I just question the out come for the nation being a retired soldier myself... I think they said all military bases and that to me would mean bases overseas too....
Give me you
I return to doctor's office end of this month then a stool speciment is due middle of February and at that time I hope they tell me all the bacteria is gone from my system so I can start to feel myself again! I will finish the three meds program in a couple more days. I'm back eating OK and I'm putting good stuff in my body replacing the bad bacteria that caused all my problems!
Since I had to drop out of my physical therapy I hope to ride my exercise bike to get physically fit again and leg
The Meaning of Christmas
Far away in Bethlehem, a Baby Boy was born; Born with neither riches nor with fame, Yet Wise Men came from all around to bring to Him their gifts, And peace was felt by all who heard His name.
Angels watched Him as He slept, and gently rocked His bed;
Their voices singing softly in His ear;
His Mother and His Father both gave thanks to God above
For the greatest gift of all, their Son, so dear
They knew His life upon this earth would not be filled wi
Most of you are aware that I play the lottery here in Texas. I have been for a few years now.I've only cashed twice where I had to go to the headquarters and sign for the check. You may have paid attention to the national news about the 350 million Mega Million jackpot played in 41 states. Winners were two I heard but the second person hasn't come forward yet.
I don't spend a fortune playing either. I spend one dollar or two on a play ticket once a week on Mega Million and another dollar on
"It was Labor Day" the six little pups were born to a three year old mom, a registered Shih Tzu, and I see they are growing big to have been so little at birth.... Their eyes are still not open yet and the mom stays real close to them all the time as she can hear the sound they make no matter where she is in the house she will come to them....
My grand daughter is so proud of her and the little ones too so she is around them when she is home and when she get home from school each day she wan
Well folks, Starting Monday, Labor Day, 7 September, the pups are due to be born through the 9th of September so what day I know not but I'm as ready as I can ever be knowing I got one hand to help if need be..... According to the Vet at Pets Mart hospital she will have three or four so I got my hands full for sure and no one home but me......
Even the guy that comes in to help me at 9am will have to be at the VA on the 9th and the 10th for his appointments while I cancelled mine to be here
This past week I read so many post and blogs where the couple, be them married or not, show their love for each other in this time of need when one of them is in sickness or not so good health! I call that living up to the vows or the love they have acquired for each other over the years.
Just a few years ago it seemed like if one partner had a stroke the other one was ready to call it quits and walk away from the relationship like it was nothing at all. Now I really enjoy reading the board
Today the last flight of NASA space program lifted off in Florida with over a million people looking on to a history ending! It seem like the first flight back in 1969 that landed a man on the moon was not long ago but it's been over 40 years. We had lost of lives as with all ventures not just into space but it was the same when airplane flights got started so many years ago.
Today we have airplanes that can carry over 500 people in comfort and soon to be space flights that will carry paying
Although the English language only has one word for LOVE, the Ancient Greeks had four words for LOVE. EROS, Philia, Agape and Storage. Each word depicts a type of love. Eros ~ Passionate love, Philia ~ Friendship love. Agape ~ A general love. Storage ~ Affectionate love.
According to legend, Valentines Day celebrates the death of the priest St. Valentine. Valentine was martyred for performing marriage ceremonies for young couples. The Roman emperor, Claudius felt that married men did not ma
No, I didn't hit the lottery, I'm just worn out completely and my body won't take another day.
So, to my cyber family of friends and neighbors in Texas and perhaps around the world, I want to tell all that I have decided with confirmation from all my doctors, to give up being gainfully employed. After 50 years working many, many jobs including my own business, 22 years of military service, and 10 years postal service, I am now RETIRED.
It's been an amazing run for me through the 50 yea
Well members, we have made it to the last day of June 2011. A few things got better, gas prices for one, the days are longer more daylight so the electric bill should drop. I try to stay outside under the trees or take my scooter and go to the stores in their cool buildings. I love the super markets eating the fresh fruits and melons they put out for customers to sample!
I turn my a/c on late evenings after the wife gets home. I don't dare turn it on just for me all day. Sometimes I park my
I'm looking at this issue as a private tax paying citizen in the lower income bracket and retired. That is enough to lose sleep when you just don't know if you wake up one morning and you owe more on your mortgage and automobile payments than you can afford on fixed incomes!
The scary part I imagine for many of us is the congress and senate members being so far apart in what should be done. We know 2 August is the deadline we have to make a decision about this issue. That's less than a week
Congresswoman Gifford is improving greatly in the Houston rehab facility. Maybe soon we will see a picture of her or see her in person soon. I continue to pray for her recovery. Nobody deserves being attacked or shot in a public outing but it continues to happen since president Lincoln was shot many years ago.
As long as we have guns and freedom to carry them people will continue to kill people all over the world.
I just wish we all had the insurance to get the therapy need for all strok
It's coming our way ready or not, ice, snow, sleet and many wrecks on the roadways. Then just like it's coming, in a day or two it will be gone and the sun comes out again! For me I will be indoors much as possible trying to get used to riding my exercise bike all over again. My left arm has all but quit working since they dropped me from in home care and a care provider for my personal help.
I will make it by the grace o God!
Already the news is all about the cold weather and the snow that's coming to almost everywhere. The accidents and many vehicle pile ups on the highways and Freeways are really making the news and keeping the highway patrols busy along with the many wrecker services needed to haul the wrecked cars. In some cases I saw on TV as many as 80 vehicles were involved when just one vehicle hit icy spots and spin out of control while other vehicles are going way to fast to stop. And it's happening in ever
This is a subject that goes way back farther than we can imagine, "For God loveth a cheerful giver" For many, many Christians, December 25th is a time of celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ the son of God. Even though it is most likely not the exact date of Jesus' birth of mankind's Redeemer.
Traditions often inspire joy and a sense of belonging. They also help create heartwarming memories for children and adults alike for years to come. Yet it is fascinating to learn the history behind so
Well dear friends, it probably doesn't feel or even look like it weather wise but the Christmas Season (December 2015) is just around the corner.... After Black Friday and of course Black Monday tomorrow the shopping season is here even if the snow and colder weather hasn't yet arrived in your town....
For many of us shopping will be off our list of things to do especially my list.... I hate trying to shop on line it's just not the same as walking into the malls and stores looking at all the
