Ending up at ER on Thursday

Last Wednesday I went to pick up my prescriptions. There was a display of Glucosamine with MSM. John had knee surgery and has some arthritis, and I do to along with some Central Pain Syndrome. I thought, well I will buy a bottle for us, fall is coming and maybe this will help us with some of our aches and pains.   I opened the bottle Wednesday and we each took one with dinner.. The dose is 2 tablets a day. I took the second one Thursday morning around 11 am. about 45 minutes later, my h

Hi Everyone

I am not "much" of a blogger. but I want to let people/friends know what has been happening in my life.. I had been on staff here for around 6 years I think. started as a chat host. So Last year I resigned, My husband had melanoma 7 years ago. He had it removed, and the surgeon was sure he had " removed all of it" John never missed his check up's. He was a Vet, so we went to Seattle a little over 80 miles south. In November he started to have some back pain. With his job and we have 5 acres

I'm Home

Hi Everyone, I am home, after my visit to Arizona. My mother in law is doing very well, she has been tolerating the chemo much better than anyone expected. She had some tests last week, and should get the test results today. The Dr is extremely happy that she has tolerated the 3 sets of (3 each set) of chemo. He has decided to do a couple more.   The morning I left we had an inch of snow on our porch and I arrived at 7 pm to around 84*. I actually did much better than I thought with

Dusting off the cob webs

Well it has been quite awhile since I have made an entry... for sometime my Blog would end up in cyber space...   This is into my 6th yr post stroke.. I almost forgot the date of it this year. I can say so far this is my best year so far. We have had a lot to go thru this past year. John's mom had lung cancer, went through chemo... and lost the fight . She passed away early March.. 4 of the 5 kids were with her as well as grandchildren, her sister and other family members. She had hosp

Looking back **Looking forward

I have been trying to get to my Blog for weeks... (achoo achoo, it's a bit dusty) I had some :what I thought were good ideas. Of course I was driving in the car, or not able to write my thoughts down...   Today is the 4th anniversary of when stroke entered my life. well "our" lives. I refuse to call it MY .. it is something that happened, like breaking your leg or whatever.... I will NOT let it control me or take over my life.   I have been looking back, and also reading Newbie's posts

Glad Friday is in a few hours..

Well it has been a bit challenging the last couple weeks. First an ear infection that tried to knock me on my keister... literally. My balance is not always 100% to begin with, but with one ear clogged and shooting pains, I was tripping over air and my own feet. Well thankfully that is in the past now.   We have had the material for the new floors for the kitchen, laundry and the small bathroom off the laundry room. Since they all run into each other i wanted the same flooring.   John

Memories

Well 9 years as a survivor, I somettimes miss "what I used to have" but I am extremely grateful of what i do have.. I am much better off than many surviors in what I was able to regain.   I miss John so much, I can't even begin to express it here. Without his support and "pushing" I am sure I woulld not have regained this much.. "The winde beneth my wings" was one of our favorite songs. July 28th was 13 months.... It was Saturday, and I had been reading on a "grief" site about some people

Well I guess John & I are a little "crazy" we have just added another four legged member to our family. I have a girlfriend that has a lot of health issues and 3 children. She adopted this little toy fox terrier 2 yrs. ago. She had some issues when Terri got her, she was not housebroken and she is hyper....Terii has not housetrained her and her husband is getting quite upset, so she has been tied out side or kenneled quite a bit. She said her husband is getting frustrated with the dog

Thanksgiving Thoughts

well I got my baking done yesterday and the kitchen cleaned up. Today all I have to do is make a green bean casserole to take (along with the pecan pie and pumpkin roulade) to my sister in laws.   Yesterday was nice, home with the dogs and baking. I even took time to come into afternoon chat.   A few weeks ago I made home made chicken pot pies, I made six, so I froze four. Took two out for dinner last night, all I had to do was make some biscuits to put on the top and pop them in the oven

Finished the Recipe Book

I have been typing recipes into my computer for my husband family. The Family Reunion is coming up. My mother-in-law wanted to do a Family Recipe Book for the Reunion (one of the fund raisers). My husband volunteered me to type the recipes.... I was getting a bit discouraged. I didn't get that many recipes from family members. Well I added quite a few of my own and my one brother and sister in law sent six. My mother in law had quite a few.. so I got them all typed and printed. John and I

Meeting Friends

WOW What a Labor Day Weekend Bessy and her husband Ed took an AmTrack train from Chicago to Seattle to come visit us.   They arrived Sunday evening... We met them and they followed us into "town" to check into their Motel. Then we all went out for dinner and visited for awhile.   It was great to meet them. We met them Monday, took them to see John's shop, had lunch and went for a ride for some "site" seeing. Then we came to our house .. 5 acres. So they could meet our animals. I

Random Thoughts

Well 2008 is here. Many of us are hoping for a better year.... more progress, financial stability. weight loss... or whatever. A New Year brining in new Hope.   I have been reading posts, Blogs. Many of us have gone thru some downs. We know we will get back up. Everyone has down days. Winter in whatever climate tends to be gray and dreary, wet and windy. Expectations of Christmas.. and picking the gift to put a smile on a Loved ones face.   Survivors ... is acceptance ever comple

About a year ago I asked for prayers and warm thoughts for John's Uncle Bob, he was having health issues and had to go in for surgery for blocked arteries. At that time they found a mal formed artery and corrected it, he had undergone treatment for prostate cancer also. He has been doing well. He is married to my mother in laws sister. They are all very close. Uncle Bob and Aunt Donni have been together 58 years.. Bob had picked up a light and was going to install it ... Aunt Donni took

HO HO HO MERRY CHRISTMAS

:santasmiley: I like Ann.. needed a bit of a jump start to find the Christmas Spirit. I was derading some of the shopping...alone.   John hates shopping...unless of course it is tools or tractors. Tracy came over one day.. and we got part of it done. I went out one day and got a few things. I then informed John... there is a little more to finish.. YOU WILL GO WITH ME AND HELP ME FINISH. (LOL)   He looked and said your getting a little bossy aren't you and laughed.... I said Yep..

YIKES

I have colored my hair off n on for years. I was tow head blonde when I was young, and it got darker as I got older.   A color I would describe as "MOUSE" the last few years it seems when I color, no matter if I use Ash it still brings out golden highlights and it tends to be more of a "strawberry" blonde. I have let it be mouse with gray for well over a year.   Well I don't know why, but I decided to "brighten" it up the other day.. I had color in the cabinet. I decided to leave

Introduction

Hi all ...I am a survivor in more ways than one....it has been hard being the "patient" as I have always been the "caregiver" the strong one. I lost my son at age 6 after 18 months of cancer (neuroblastoma) in 1972. My former husband had kidney problems and ended up on dialysis..I ran the dialysis machine at home for a little over a year. There was no kidney center near us..closest was 2 hours away so they taught me to do it....I was a widow at 30 with a teenage daughter. I was a level A pha
