So far...so good

My new plan is going fine, the weather is improving (which means I will be getting even busier), and my life is running smoothly.   Even the Amazing Gracie is happy. Next month I see the doctor again and tackle the medicine problems (they really don't know what they are doing). Maybe after that I will feel better, too.   My new landlords are good and treat me well. I still have a couple of "bumps" to work out but, they are not urgent. Sorry you don

Changes

It is wet and cool here...so much better than most of the world has. We are not buried in snow and ice or burning up in a drought. I remember one year many moons ago when snow was shipped from the Chicago area to drought areas by truck. Maybe they should try that again.   My own life is changing (again) and I am changing with it...I hope it's a good change (so many have been bad). I am busier, have more friends (some who actually help me), and a master plan. Try to be positive everyone.

Happy Groundhog Day!

In spite of what the groundhog in Pa. says....Gracie did not have a shadow in our heavy fog. Phil has been wrong before (how could he tell with all those lights). So, whether 6 weeks or 6 days....Have a Happy February 2!!

Geography lesson

For the geography challenged....almost 7 New Jerseys could be fit into Georgia. Atlanta is a small dot near the top end of Georgia. States like Texas are even larger. Hope that helps.

Yup...it's January

Almost every January there are water troubles. This year...the pump is being replaced. This is the second new pump in 3 years. Of course, it happens to be the coldest stretch of January and the new owners took over this past week. Yup...it's January! This should mean (along with other omens) that the year will end on a good note.

Isn't tech wonderful!

How else could we meet new people and converse with them, get help, do research, get information, play games, read books and news, and generally...not be so alone! Cheers to the computer in it's many forms! It sure makes a difference in my life! One can pay bills, bank, and shop online. No eraser (and holes) to correct our misspellings. I can spell but, hit a lot of wrong keys these days. lol Yeah tech!!

I'm still here

I have been busier than usual lately and will be glad to see my life settle down to boring, again.   Among other things that went wrong...My food stamps were approved for renewal and I should be getting $15 worth each month but, when I went to use them at the store, my card was empty! I was angry and embarrassed. For the past two months they have not been added to my card. I tried contacting the local office...they no longer take calls. I called the main office and was put on hold for 2 1/

New technology

The CES show has spotlighted some wonderful and silly new tech. One of the best (I think) is the self-driving car. How wonderful it would be for the disabled and elderly to have their freedom, not be dependent on buses, cabs, family or friends. At the same time, how nice not to worry about accidents that can be avoided by the smarts of these cars. Safe, convenient, transportation. No worry about fuzzy brains, bad reaction time, limited physical abilities or the schedules of others.   I li

The Polar Express

To add to the current conversation.....it is cold down here, too (sw Georgia on the Florida border). This is the first time since Monday afternoon that we have been above freezing. It has been 18-19 for morning lows (plus wind chill). Last night my hot water line to the kitchen froze in spite of leaving the water running (the bathroom hot water line was fine as were the cold lines). Gracie cuddled with me under a throw blanket last night to watch tv then beat me to bed and under the covers.

The latest adventures of....

...the Amazing Gracie:   Last night she wanted in the book cupboard (a cubbyhole above the couch) and fussed until I let her into it. She had one objective in mind so, while I was trying to fix an annoying problem on my computer, she proceeded to dig out all of the computer books (only computer books), I think she was trying to tell me something. LOL

How to feel worse

It isn't bad enough to be crippled by a half working body, that same body turns on you and causes injury when you're not looking.   I injured my back while sleeping two nights ago (and last night made it much worse). It is verrry difficult to turn over in bed and difficult getting in and out with half of your body useless. I spent this morning screaming (literally) from pain and because of the pain, my useless foot curled up and made walking more difficult and painful. Trying to get in an

They don't teach common sense in Med school

I had a doctor appointment yesterday. I gimped in with my Frankenstein walk and cane and the girl asked my to "hop up" on the scale. LOL After managing that without falling, she took me to an exam room where she asked me to "hop up" onto an exam table. ROFL No way a crip can do that...we settled for stretching me out across the chairs (on which my head was banged on the metal frame....Ouch!). Then came EKG, blood drawing, temp, etc. and finally BP...it was a little high (138/90) I wonder wh

Carol's progress

I talked to Carol last night and she is doing very well.....gold medal level. No more "pity parties", capable of what she needs to do, working hard at getting better, and looking forward to going home soon. She can get access to the rehab's computer cafe some days to read her email and hopes to get a chance to join chat one day. She says thank you and hi to all her SN friends.

Big step forward

:jig: For those of you who don't know much about Carol....she has been in a wheelchair for 7 years. Yesterday she not only walked but, walked using a quad cane!   She hopes to join us on afternoon chat on Monday if she can get use of a computer (there is a queue for them).   Carol has come a long way since her TIA and operation for the aneurysm plus she has gone from tears and hopeless to hopeful and determined. She could be our "poster child". She says "hello" to all and her wish is
