Ethyl17 Posted November 15, 2011 Orlando: you work every day with weight-bearing and balance. Stand, balance, let go, balance some more. Hold onto your grip bar or counter, get the affected foot on the floor, lift the good foot. Over and over again. Move on to knee bends, again at grip bar or counter. You can do all of this yourself, with your WC locked behind you in case you need a rest. I agree with Asha, you have a wonderful outlook. Best and please do let us know how it is going. fking Posted November 17, 2011 Keep the faith, you can do it. I'm doing it now and I'm walking better than I could have imagined at nearly 8 years recovering in a couple more months. You'll make it! Fred! Quote Link to comment
theresambrownsc Posted November 18, 2011 I'm the caregiver (sort of) I live in South Carolina and my dad who had the stroke is in Canada - I send him letters every week ; he's only about six weeks out since his stroke, talks great, understands and recognizes everybody but not much movement on his left side yet - I ready your stories and I'm encouraged and I know my dad, my hero, is going to get up and walk before it's all said and done; thank you for all I've read above!
