THE NEW THERAPY STARTS!!!!

We got the best news today!!!!! I have been talking in the chat rooms about a new therapy for Cayden but it was trying to get the insurance to pay for it. Well I talked to the lady today that has the machine at her office and we start Caydens braincore therapy Aug. 3rd. The best part is for $1300 plus we only have to pay $300 for a machine that we have to take home. He will be receiving this therapy for 45 min. a day for the next 6 plus weeks. We dont have to actually pay for the therapy itself but she said that if we have the extra money then we can donate it to the office so others who need this therapy can get it without having to pay for it. Now what I would like to do is find a way to get money up with different businesses as a fund raiser to help his doctor so others can benefit from this therapy as well. His therapy is supposed to cost $65 a session and that is 3 times a week for the next 6 weeks or longer. They think it may be longer because of his possible Autism. And we found out today that this is supposed to cure Autism too!!!!!

It is also supposed to help his OCD, ODD, and ADHD.

Let me add one more thing about this therapy. The insurance is NOT paying for it. We didnt even ask the insurance because his insurance doesnt cover chiropractic care and when we talked to his psychiatrist to ask the insurance he said that they most likely wouldnt pay for it because his ADHD meds was working for him. The chiropractor who has the machine at her office is doing all this for free except for the machine we have to bring home for his treatments at home but we keep that.

Dyan, he is young and the therapy sounds good, hopefully he will respond well to it. Best for Cayden is your love for him. Bless you for all that you do for him and for the rest of your family.

Congrats! Hope this new therapy work!

It is so good to hear stories of insurance companies beginning to pay for stuff beyond the bear minimum. A few years ago I doubt they would have approved it.

Good luck.

Hope I am doing this correctly...I am new, not to stroke, but to the site and excited, I am co-founder of oul local support group and am interested in this topic but have no background..what is the therepy for and how will it work.

I had our first fundraiser at a spur of the moment thing...a get in there and do it for momentum sake and had wonderful results...to help provide one of our survivors the trial period for a walkaide for dropfoot...this man has been in our group since nwe began 3 years ago, never participated or shared until we had a speaker and demonstration...of course he was our chosen participant and was curious to try because he had read an articke on the device...total in nthe group that day were about 18 people, caregivers and survivors who were all totally amazed. The participant has gained so much self esteem and personality and become our comedian. All has worked well for him and of course, there is no help out there to help fund the remaining 4 of $5,000...good news is we raised $1,500 + and still coming in with 2 week s time....our ngoal for another fundraiser and to raise enough to get enough down on device he will be able to handle no interest payments and plant nseed $$$ to build towards helping other persons in our county dealing with nuerological placisity disorders from stroke,ms,traumatic brain injuries and forgot the rest (sorry)...getting to the point, I am excited to just step in to a door leading to my passion to help us when there is no help.

So I may be very nieve, but share with me and I will be so thankful and I will be all eyes in learning all the areas that will be of help to so many...

being a survivor myself...me energy wears out way too quick to get all accomplished and I am finding out that often when attempting to get aide in funding normal persons get excited to help...hopefully it will last and they will take on some of this admin stuff for me.

My husband of 4 years is 13 years older than I and we are learning to adjust and live...try not to demand all his time and attempt to do as much as I can on my own. Prior to my stroke, I had been a public official for 16 years with my next 4 year term in front of me without my first election without an opponet and it was over. It is hard for me share my responsibilities to committments I take on...and yes, I'm frustrated, can walk roughly, can talk...some cogn(?) issues and multitasking and organizational skills out the window...bad enough to not be able to carry on and good nenough to nremember all I've lost...I am not able to drive out of lack of quick resonse and attention span and the fear of hurting someone ...so I have to keep myself pumped up and involved or will sit down and dry up...whew, exhausting post.
