Winter is here and I'm going to Florida!
Dan is in bed, has been since 6:00pm. I'm just sitting here messing around on the computer and doing nothing productive. I've had a good day. Got a massage, had my teeth cleaned, and did a little shopping. Dan sleeps a lot more lately. He's ready to go to bed by 3pm and I have to tell him NO, it's too early. Of course he argues. It's so hard telling someone who was such a strong independent man that he can't do things, like go to bed at 3pm, eat candy bars all day long, spend $20 on breakfast. Yes, he did that one day. I wasn't with him, his caregiver was. Jeff tried talking him out of ordering a la carte but, stubborn as he is, he insisted that he knew what he was doing. Then the bill came and he blamed it all on Jeff! No matter what it is, it's not His fault. lol We "discussed" the cost of the meal when he got home and he hasn't done it since.
All in all things are going well. It suddenly got cold here in central Indiana. It's rained all day and now it's sleeting, supposedly we're getting snow tonight. There are no houses on three sides of ours so the wind blows around our house a lot. Lots of whistling and blowing sounds that make it seem and feel much colder. Tomorrow is the first day of winter. Three months of cold, dreary days. Indiana doesn't get a lot of sun in the wintertime, most days are very dreary.
I'm going on a vacation, first one in ten years!!! I'm going to St. Petersburg, FL in three weeks with three friends. It started out with two of us, then another friend was invited, then she invited another friend of hers. We're only going for four days. Three of us are caregivers to spouses and can't stay gone too long. Jeff will be staying with Dan, he's the one that really encouraged me to go. I'd like to spend an extra day just to have some alone time, but it will end up costing me around $400 more. An extra 16 hours for Jeff, another car rental day, and more money for the flight. That's ok, I'm just excited to be able to get away for four days. What's interesting is that, at 64, I'm the youngest of the four of us. There's me, a 70 year old, an 86 year old, and an 85 year old!! The two 80 year olds are very spry for their age so it should be fine.
I've worn myself out staring at the computer for so long. I think it's time for a little TV and then bed. I wish everyone a very Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, and Happy Kwanzaa. Be safe in whatever you do. Blessings to all.
