My Lungiversary

Rose Smith

Yesterday was the 6 year anniversary of my double lung transplant, during which I suffered my stroke.

The transplant saved my life.

The stroke changed my life.

It was a steep price to pay, but I have lived to watch my son grow up and see my husband embark on a second career as a middle school teacher. I've been able to see my parents reach their 90's, and to know and love our dog, Gus.

I hate having a stroke,

but I love being alive.

Know what I mean?

Yes I do. I had my stroke during outpatient surgery for a melanoma. That was 4 years ago. You're right I am happy to still be here, but boy, do I hate the deficits from the stroke.

wow... I had no idea Rose!   You are truly blessed to have had that surgery and still be here.   Naturally, I wish you didn't have a stroke, but everyone here feels the same way about that!

Beanna, I don't really remember reading something from you before, but glad to hear you are still here after a melanoma surgery.

The only other surgery I've been told about by someone who had a stroke event surgery was a gal that was having carotid surgery to PREVENT having a stroke!
