Finally some good days

I have had off Wed, Thurs, & Friday this week, and they have all been very productive and good. What a change from the way things had been going. Today driving home from therapy, I even spilt my entire soda all over my legs and lap (boy, THAT was refreshing) and all I could do was laugh. Not to metion I just just washed and cleaned the car yesterday, but I didn't care! Feeling very positive right now.

After a pretty depressing week last week, I decided it was time to address some of the things that have been bothering me. As a caregiver to my husband, I really was feeling like I was letting him down and ignoring my needs as well. To take the bull by the horns, I don't think I sat much Wednesday; doing laundry, mopping the kitchen floor (it had been forever, and it was depressing me every time I walked into the kitchen), taking my husband to acupuncture and to therapy. We even fit in going out to lunch at a new restaurant where you build your own stirfry and choose all the ingredients including seasonings and sauces. It was very interesting and fun.

I also began doing a few things this week to make me feel better, I colored my hair (scarey roots!), started dieting again (I've put on 30 lbs in 1 year, and sitting in a hospital, eating hospital food did not help) and started going to a tanning salon. I called my Mom and told her NOW was the time to help. She is coming Monday to entertain my husband and our 2 teenagers for the day while I do a few things around the house and then go to work. She is also bringing some frozen entrees- she has prepared: lasagna, chicken casserole, grilled hamburgers, cooked, loose ground beef I can use for whatever, and a few more things. I too, have been making extra when I cook and freezing it for later, so it looks like I need to invest in a deep freezer biggrin.gif. BTW, I need to brag about my Mom's cooking, she's been a finalist in the Pilsbury bake off and NUMEROUS other cooking contests, even appeared in an episode of the FOODNetwork. Mom bringing food is always GOOD!

The best things about this week have to be his doctor visit today. The nurse practioner wrote a prescription for Patrick's therapy to increase from 3 days a week to 5 days a week. YIPEE!!! I have been saying from the beginning that Patrick wants as much therapy as you can throw at him, and was basically told "he'll get it 3 times a week for 45 minutes each" . I am glad somebody finally listened! Hopefully this will help eleviate a bit of his cabin fever.

I also asked the nurse practitioner about the fitness center they have in the building, and she thought it would be great if we joined. She said she would talk to the therapists about showing me all of the exercises he could do on the equipment including aquadics. I figure this will go well into my own fitness needs, and I will already be in the building 5 days a week.

I hope everything else continues on the up swing. I could definately use mores days like the past few.
