Oh My Darling Clementine!

It's truly the "little" things that make me happy these days. Clementines; so little and sweet! I love fresh fruit but hadn't been able to enjoy much of it since the CVA. Although I recovered enough to lose my lopsided smile, I continued and still do with some paralysis in my face and mouth that biting into large or hard things like sandwiches and apples, was painful (I'd end up biting my lip or tongue, or both.) Also, many other fruits require the work of two hands before reaping the benefits which meant that I was dependent upon the help of others in order to eat things like oranges when I wanted. However, I asked hubby to buy some clementines last week and discovered that I am capable of peeling them one-handed; now I can eat one whenever I want, without having to wait until someone else is available to help me! Yahoo! Although clementines are "little" things, this is a HUGE achievement for me!

For those of you who've been following my story...I've had a sleep study done but won't know the results until I meet with my doctor, tomorrow. For now I continue to take naps when I feel the need. I do love sleep and on these cold wintry days, I equally love the cuddly warmth of my bed and down-filled comforter.

Rose, you are doing well, peeling the clementines one handed is another small victory for you. And enjoy your snuggly moment, not a lot of those in our hot summer this year but a couple of cooler nights because of rain remind me again of that pleasure.

Sue, you must be in the southern hemisphere..My area, in New England, USA, is buried in snow with very cold temperatures!

I am so happy you are celebrating these small victories. I feel all these small improvements eventually becomes happy & satisfied new normal & life goes on. I too love being snuggled in my warm bed on my break day when I don't have mommy duty in morning & hubby takes over for me.

Isn't it just so awesome when something comes along and gives us back some independence! Well done!

I too love them and cuties and some mangelos things I am a citrus fool!

I too love sleep and I sometimes nod all day long. I assume it is the meds. I never was able to sleep in a car but now I do fall asleep even when I hardly trust the driver lol! I just nod off boom gone. It is embarrassing when it happens and others see it. sometimes it is for a short time or then it can be for a longer time.I am very interested in hearing about what the outcome is for you.

We have some cool nights here too and I love my alternative down comforter with pretty coverlet on it to keep it decorated and clean.

I love my cool clean sheets with plenty of fabric softener. Ok now I am getting really sleepy! I can't believe I used to have insomnia. I sleep so much now. I feel lazy when I say that outloud. I think we are not allowed to talk about loving sleep and sleeping so much, Thank you for validating this all part of it.

Hi Rose,

I have the same problems as you do with the face and hand---and you are so right--clementines are the best. It has been 4 1/2 years since my stroke and I don't bite my tongue etc as much as I did. You sound like you are doing great  keep it up and stay warm. I live in northeast Ohio and while we don't have as much snow as New England, we have the cold. BRRR!
