3 years and my daughter still doesn't understand

My youngest daughter is moving into an apartment she sent me a text asked me if in my travels I could keep an eye out for the table for her cheap something like $20 I know what that means she wants me to hit the second hand stores to see if I can find a table for her and of course purchases it also with the 9 or 10 second hand stores in and around the area traveling by bus it would take me a solid two days to go to all of them get there and then wait for the next bus. if she made a similar request three and a half years ago I probably would have taken the afternoon off and drove around to each the to see if I could find something for her alas I travel by bus so that's really not an option I'd do anything for her but I don't have two days to spend running around on the off chance of finding a table that might work
kids gotta love them.
be blessed and be a blessing make a difference everyday

Jay,

The big thing is you trying to handle a table and of course the two or four chairs too riding a bus!!!!! You will need a friend with a vehicle to handle that request from your daughter in my opinion having done the same thing for my daughter not long ago.....

Thank God I drive and had my SUV......

yeah Jay I get it that our kids continue to see us as our better selves that we know is unrealistic and that hurts. I been there. I want to be that old mom who could be all do all. but now I have to delegate.

Hi Jay, I think your Daughter thinks of you as a normal Dad, one who can still help.  She doesn't think of you as a handicapped person that needs her pity.  All in all I would have to say, good job.

Now just ask her for a lift to the second hand stores so you can look for a table.

I totally agree and she is still in the 'All about me' stage and she is excited

Hi Jay,

My 2¢ Have you ever just sat her down and told her, (With love) what you can and cannot do?  (She may already be aware and wants you to feel included.)  (Having 'said' that, Kelli may be right on the money!)

Susan

One of the amazing things about this site is the incredible perspective of other individuals thank you so much for reminding me that she doesn't see me as a handicapped person but it's a normal Day ad I love that long before my disability I raise my children to accept all individuals as individuals were all humans I guess that turned out okay with the kids
