Mostly rambling

It has been a while since my last blog, so I figured it was time to add a new one. I always think I should wait to blog until something interesting happens or I have something useful to say, but since that rarely happens, I thought I'd just go for it.

We have been out here in Colorado for almost two months. Patrick and I are really liking the climate and surroundings. I have not missed Illinois at all. Our son, who will be starting his first year of high school soon, is not ready to admit he likes it yet. Give him time, he will. He already has several girls calling him on a regular (DAILY) basis. He will be fine.

We started looking for houses recently, and I think we found the one we want. It has great views from the master bedroom and the deck. It is two bathroom with a soaking tub and double sinks in the master bath. It has a good sized eat-in kitchen with upgraded appliances. It has a large laundry room/pantry with built in shelving. It has a full unfinished basement, a two car attached garage a fenced in back yard. There is a seperate little flowerbed/garden on the side of the house, and there is a covered front porch. There is just enough yard, so I wont have to do much mowing, and it is fully landscaped and has a sprinkler system. It is 3 years old. Sounds great, right?

There are two downsides to it though, which make me nervous: It is a two bedroom and it is an attached home(duplex). The only reason this make s me nervous is if we have to sell for some reason, it will make it more difficult. I DON'T WANT TO SELL, THOUGH! I want to live there! So we are thinking about just doing it.

Tomorrow we are going to try to attend our first stroke support meeting in a nearby town. I hope Patrick feels like he finds some kindred soul there. I have you guys. I want him to have some stroke friends too. We will see. Hopefully I can find it okay, I am not really familiar with this town very much- I have only driven through it once. If I get lost maybe Sarah can come rescue me- lol!

Work is still work. There were challanges in Illinois, and there are challanges here. I am a strong person and I know when to bite the bullet and kiss someone's butt. That time has been NOW for the last month or so. My lips are getting chapped from all the butt kissing, but luckily I just got a new tube of chapstick and I am good to go for a while longer. I am sure with my charming personality SHE will come to love me (or tolerate will do). I think SHE just need to mark her territory, and she is now coming to realise I DON'T WANT IT!

Anyway....

We just picked up my stepson from the airport yesterday, which is another humiliating story I will share with you another time. Maybe just in chat. I am not sure I want to put that story in print where the whole world can see my failings :) . Today is my day off, so we are going to spend the day doing something fun as a family. I haven't fully decided WHAT that will be be yet, but maybe tonight I can update you on what we did. It feels good to have all four of us together again!

Until next time,

Kristen

Sounds like you are doing fine in your new surroundings. And the getting lost thing is something that happens to us all.

Hope the stroke group works for Patrick. We all need to find kindred sprirts and as you know they come along when we least expect it.

Brandon already has girls that ring him DAILY? he must be a "chick magnet".

Hope you enjoyed your day out. Catch you soon.

Sue.
