greetings...today was my second visit with the bioness trained pt...she measured my walking with the device operational and then with it non-operational resulting in a faster and more functional speed with it on...the absolute best part of it for me was clearly experiencing my affected heel touching the ground first as i advanced my left leg!!!!...this device is promising for me to possibly regain a more normal gait!!!!...that sought after heel/toe movement...and with time and effort i do hope to be able to walk around outside without the use of a cane!!!!...she gave me a list of specific exercises to do with the device on to retrain the muscles to support the corrected movement...

it's not inexpensive nor is it usually covered by insurance...(i know...big surprise)...i've arranged a rental agreement for four months with an option to buy...it's about $500/month which all applies to the buy price of $6000...ouch...but i am grateful someone developed such a sensible aid to rehabilitate foot drop which must be corrected to facilitate functional walking...in some cases this device has corrected the foot drop to the degree that the device was no longer necessary...no one needs to have any significant dorsiflexion going into this treatment but you do need to have the range of motion in your ankle so that you are able to be passively dorsiflexed...the greatest successes they've had have been with stroke patients...now isn't that nice that we're at the top of the list for a change??... www.bioness.com

i do not receive my unit until i return from los angeles...i'll post more of course...happy holidays, richxxx

rich, that is great news. i tried the walkaide system, which has the same concept but as you said the ankle needs to be functional to correct use the device, i have to much tone in mine. i wish you the best on this new step in your rehab. keep us posted on how things are going. stay strong and be well.
