Being a parent[ big sigh]

It just turned noon time in our house today on a Monday and the phone has been ringing off the hook all morning with calls from school. My son is now full blown into those teen years. He speaks his mind, but has yet to stop at the line where he should just shut up and show some self control. He also has ADHD which adds to his disorder, but still no excuse or justification to be disrespectful to a teacher.

With each phone call, the evidence against him is mounting. I have wiggled into my mom the meanie cape, wheres a big stick? I have the afternoon to think of creative ways to make his life miserable. A few years ago making him hoover the house created such a storm of tears and yelling, you would have thought, I had resorted to cutting off his arm. I could sit there and say anything electrical is taken away, but I may upgrade that to anything involving technology is gone, oops there go the MP3 player and headphones, guess he'll hear what I say now! that includes the computer, internet and online gaming. Also the tv in his room and stereo too. X- box how far back should I go in definition to technology? well phone calls should be included, since they involve the cordless phone. I could shut the circut breaker off to his room, no light, horrors! he'd have to spend time with the family. Hopefully this will get his attention, as I'm out of ideas.

Care to place an order for plug locks? They're combination locks that fit over the end of an eletrical plug, so there's no chance of him "sneaking" and using a device that you ground him from.

Also, make him do the dishes. Teenage boys hate that kind of thing.

pam,

at least yours is AWAKE. ashley stays in a comatose like state when home from school and is ALWAYS asleep whem i come in from work, 5, 6, 7pm or later. i have to put on my meanie cap A LOT just to get her to get up and do her chores. she's perfect at school. straight a's, polite, etc. i guess she uses up all of her energy at school and is zonked when she gets home.

i find this parenting thing DRAINING. i have no advice at all. except to build a time machine, stick them in it, and fast forward them to the age of 40 ( WITH teens of their own) lol

Being a parent is what I was born to do, I've been lucky I guess, not much trouble from my kids I couldn't relate to, they're now a 30 yr old daughter soon to be licensed nurse & 24 yr old son with a career in the plumbing field, both are mature responsible independent young adults & continue to make me proud on a regular basis
