hello...i've been offline for a bit...post holiday blahs maybe...well to update i'm pleased thusfar with my ness l300 neurostimulator...

it noticeably improves my walking speed which feels great...feeling my affected heel hit the ground before the rest of my foot does is also a sublime feeling...i'm still perfecting the stim pad placements with my therapist to get them exactly where they will lift my foot into clean dorsiflexion not inversion, eversion, etc...i'm going tomorrow to ny pres to order the ness h200 which does the same thing for the affected hand...it opens the fingers and thumb...i was evaluated for this when i was in LA last month...i'm looking forward to another modality that has very good potential...i continue to do saebo saebo saebo...lol...it can be so monotonous but the theory behind it seems solid to me so i squeeze and squeeze...thank god i found an affordable personal trainer who's also interested in becoming a physical therapist...it's a good match...i have another treatment coming up that i'll blog about as soon as i'm able...i wasn't surprised to see on her website that the ever so unscrupulous ruth lycke and her china connection are now targeting another population of needy people...the obese...she's claiming all the benefits of traditional chinese medicine to lose weight...staying in another chinese hospital in tianjin where she's already set up the groundwork to overcharge and make promises she's completely clueless about...she's seen the writing on the wall re bringing stroke survivors over there so now she's turned her unrelenting greed and dysfunction to another venture in which she knows even less about...this time she'll soon find herself hopelessly and hermetically sealed in failure much sooner as she can't possibly play this group the way she played my group with her stroke story...

i and my recovery buddy mark are going to another tcm hospital in china in april...they offer basically the same program

as we had in tianjin AT HALF THE PRICE...we're looking forward to exploring another tcm option devoid of an unnecessary profitreaping middle man...also we'll be attending a wedding there and reconnecting with some wonderful people we were fortunate enough to meet last year...my helper, qiu, is available to meet us at the beijing airport...he'll be vigorous in advocating for our best interests...:)...my best to all from nyc, richxxx

Hello,

I am glad you are able to try new things.

My husband participated in a clinical trial robotic arm therapy at UC Irvine this past December. I guess, it helped a litltle with his tone, but he was hoping for a little more. Now, I am interested in the NESS H200. Do you know how much it costs? --

Thanks,

Rich,

Thank you for your very informative blog. My wife stroked on 10/24 on her left side and lost complete movement on her right side and all speech. We spent 2 weeks in the hospital and 1 month in a stroke rehab center. My wife now can parrot words and sometimes can initiate one or two work sounds. She can walk short distances with her low quad without assistance and her right leg is definitely getting stronger. Her right arm continues to be worthless.

We have now completed the 60 insurance covered rehab sessions ( 20 each of PT,OT, and speech ). Now I am looking for the next best rehab opportunity. I was very strongly considering the China Connection, so I really appreciate your insights. Fortunately, we have the resources to pay our own way, so I have also mailed an application to the Taub Center at UAB.

Do you have any suggestions for us? We live in Delaware so we are a quick Amtrak ride from NYC and would be delighted to meet with you in person.
