My stroke occurred on 3/23/06, while I was doing some computer consulting work for a friend of mine. I had felt sick in the morning, thought it was sinuses and took a Benadryl. I drove 45 minutes to the office, stopped next door at the local cafe to order breakfast and proceeded to work. I remember feeling sick - thinking I needed to go to the bathroom. When I got to the bathroom I couldn't remember how to unbutton my jeans and I started stumbling - and actually fell down, I couldn't get up without falling back.


I really started to panic until I saw some chairs and scooted over to them to get up. I got up. The phone started ringing and I went to answer it. I started talking to a friend when the urge to use the bathroom hit again. I went to the room, looked at myself in the mirror and promptly dropped the phone. As I picked up the phone I could hear my friend ask if I was okay, I said "yes" thinking that it would all pass in a few minutes. We said our goodbyes and I hung up.


I went back to the front desk and started to work again. A customer came in and while I was helping her, the computer screen started to get really fuzzy and I couldn't type correctly. I remember asking the friend, who I was working for, for some help. He immediately came over and tried to help me stand in order to get me to the car. I fell backwards and couldn't stand up straight.
