Carmen Gonzales

Hi I'm Carmen. I had a stroke (hemmorhage) 4 years ago. I am now able to do everything just fine. I do have a little limp on my left side. I have a problem with anxiety. I don't talk on the phone and I try not to drive because it scares me so much. In fact I prefer not to leave the house. I worry a lot of the time and I have gained some weight. I haven't been able to go back to work and it is difficult to work at home like work on my yard. It also took me a while to relearn to type. I can't seem to get used to myself this way. I'm only 36 and sometimes feel SO old and useless. Carmen hangin in there though!

Hi Carmen,

I can share your feelings. I was 40 and very active with gym life and running when I too had a stroke down my left side. That was 6 years ago now and at times I feel old and tired, but I keep reminding myself I am still alive and life is too short to stay down. Have faith in your own abilities and your maker and conquer your fears. Remember you are not alone and others care for and wish to see you succeed.

You can be and will be a better person than you were before. Your picture certainly does not portray you as old and with support from your family and stroke group you are going to climb any mountain.

Take care and remember we are all special because we are all survivors

Hi Carmen,

I share with you anxiety and the way you are feeling after your stroke. I am a new member and I joined recently because I was just diagnosed with Cerebrovascular Disease and had my 4th stroke last week. I have TIA strokes. I have been 2 years being tested for MS and was finally diagnosed with having the strokes a few weeks ago. I have been a diabetic for many years and the neurologist told me that this is causing my strokes. I too worked for many years and I am on off work right now trying to decide what to do. I have decided that I need to take each day one day at a time and make the best out of life. I am 52 years old. I just wanted to say to you that I will be thinking of you and hoping each day you will get stronger. Take care.

Laurie

Carmen, don't be so hard on yourself, you were attacked by stroke. I had my brush with stroke four years ago (seems longer), and I understand how you feel, I wen't through alot of what you have but I forced myself to keep going, that's all we really can do, don't give up.

I just came across your image and I gotta tell you, you're beautiful. Try to get out of the the house more and socialize. I've found great relief going on this site and talking about it. Everybody's been so welcoming of me. And it makes it easier to understand, we're all in this thing together. Anytime you want to talk, I'm there for you.
