  4. Ted, my opinion of this is that everybody heals at different paces. Keith is lucky to have you as a caregiver. No matter how long it takes I know that you will be by his side cheering him on. Five years from now, you both will look back in amazement with how much Keith has recovered. This is how recovery usefully works. The stem cell therapy will hopefully make things improve more and quicker. You both are in my prayers.
  5. Rich, it's great to read your latest progress report! It is important that everybody hears it definitely is aware that stem cell therapy does not just consist of receiving new cells. Physical therapy and daily exercise is so important to your recovery. The exciting thing is that your recovery seems so dependent on your motivation and you have loads of that! I am so happy for you, Rich! I look forward to future progress reports from you! Thanks! :)

    My wife and I

We are at the 2006 Harford County Resource Fair. This is a trifold presentation I made to promote our organization. Notice that we also passed out stroke awareness bracelets. We probably had close to 100 visitors. Everybody that stopped by was really glad to see that stroke was represented. There were about 100 other tables. If anybody from our organization wants to participate in something similar in their local area I can provide all of the information for you. Just make requests at your county Department of Disability to see if they also have a yearly resource fair.

    Give me a Break!!

You are both right on! Stroke support is about being supportive to our other members and not about sending them an angry response to something that they said. We are here to build others up and not tear them down; no matter what their faith. Hey, if it's what works for you I am not about to complain about what you said! A word or a name doesn't bother me! Just don't trash my faith or anybodys elses. The bottom line is to be respectful of others and if you have another view point-agree to disagree! And if you don't like what I am saying then waaahhh to you!
  13. Hi, first, I would like to welcome you. Brainstem strokes can be that most and least debilitating type of stroke. Mine caused quadriplegia and loss of speech while I know others that you can look at and not see signs of a stroke at all. I'm not sure what happened to you but staying close to your doctor and maybe a neurologist is going to be in your best interests. My advice to you is to write everything down that seems different to you and report it at your next visit. Be aware of the stroke warning signs, which can be found at http://www.strokeawareness.org/ and have a plan of what to do if you think that you are having a stroke. My stroke started with symptoms on a Friday night and it was not until Sunday night that I had my stroke . I was having TIA's and had absolutely no idea of what was going on. Everybody that you needs be aware of is on that website. Good luck!
  14. INTRODUCTION We understand you are interested in regenerative therapy. This message is intended as an introduction to myREgeneration. myREgeneration provides information, education, referral and support services for those interested in seeking stem cell and related therapies in lawful jurisdictions. We help locate a practitioner best suited to your needs and then provide technical and logistical support with your arrangements. All of this costs you nothing! ABOUT myREgeneration Human regeneration and repair is an important and often controversial subject. For those facing debilitating or life threatening health challenges, or for those desiring rejuvenation; choice is important. myREgeneration is dedicated to providing information and education about issues and developments in regenerative therapies so you can make informed health care decisions. We focus primarily on the emerging area of stem cells and related therapies. Through our years of experience, we have developed extensive knowledge about these therapies, a world-wide referral network of where to get them, and an understanding of the legal issues involved in pursuing them. myREgeneration offers information, education, referral and support services for those seeking stem cell and related therapies in lawful jurisdictions. myREgeneration does not offer medical advice, diagnosis, or treatments. STEM CELL OVERVIEW: Stem cells are an emerging area of medicine and are currently considered research in nature even by those using them within a treatment context. This means stem cell use is investigative and not yet a reliable therapy with predictable results. myREgeneration only works with legitimate lawful practitioners who ascertain certified stem cells of the highest possible quality. It is far too risky for all involved to do otherwise. Finding these practitioners is not as easy as one might think. Currently, the majority of our practitioners use umbilical cord cells as they have reported satisfactory safety, manageability, and results with their use. There are practitioners in limited jurisdictions who lawfully use stem cells in a treatment context. The overall safety and efficacy of stem cells as reported by both industry literature and our own network of practitioners is quite good. When considering stem cell therapy, it is wise to hope for results but not to expect them. Some people have experienced remarkable results while others have not. It is key to remember there are no guaranteed results. This is why we believe pre treatment preparation and post treatment follow up is important. Whether dealing with a debilitating or a severe life threatening condition, it's important to address the needs of a person as a whole. Stem cell treatment can be part of that continuum. Stem cells are an exciting therapy but they're not a magic bullet, so attention to pre and post follow through is vital. TREATMENT OVERVIEW Pre treatment consists of reviewing your history and current state of being, considering if stem cell treatment might prove useful, and suggesting possible treatment options including adjunctive therapies and procedures to help maximize potential benefit. Post treatment consists of reviewing your current state of being for a period of weeks after stem cell treatment and suggesting next steps by working with your primary care physician. If you do not currently have a primary care physician myREgeneration will help you find one. Treatment may take one day or several depending on the application and if adjunct therapies are included. Reported results are at this time anecdotal and stem cell comparative studies are rare. This is largely due to sanctions prohibiting their use in many jurisdictions and less than impeccable record keeping in locals where treatment is available. There is a reasonably large body of information on the net about various cases but it is not coherently organized. THE VALUE OF OUR SERVICE myREgeneration services cost you nothing. In fact, you pay exactly the same as if you went to the practitioner directly, except with us you get additional service. We help all involved by making administrative and logistical aspects of the process much easier. We assist with: information and education locating quality practitioners for regenerative treatment anywhere in the world processing necessary medical and legal forms managing finances and reimbursements to practitioners scheduling and logistical coordination to your location follow up and general support insurance billing Taken together myREgeneration provides you tremendous value all at no cost to you! TREATMENT COSTS There are currently no programs for research subjects we know of. One also might be surprised to learn most stem cells are produced and distributed by private organizations operating in a market economy. Fee schedules charged by most practitioners vary (and sometimes include packages with adjunct therapies). The general cost ranges from $10K USD to $30K USD. We have seen an average course of treatment running anywhere from $10K-$15K USD. In many cases, additional treatments are required spread out over months or even years. No insurance coverage exists for stem cells themselves, but coverage may exist for other aspects of treatment. While payment must be made in full prior to treatment, myREgeneration will work to help you with insurance reimbursements where possible. We hope you find this information useful in making your decision whether stem cell therapy may be right for you. Please let us know if you have further questions and if you choose to go forward with our service. Once we get some basic information from you, myREgeneration will set up an initial practitioner consult for you. myREgeneration.com...helping you REgenerate yourselfTM info@myregeneration.com 619-564-4282

  16. Sandy, this support group exists only because I couldn't attend a local stroke support group due to time, transportation and other physical limitations. It seems that several thousand other stroke survivors share the same frustrations, especially stroke caregivers, who need information about what to do with decision making, as well as somebody to talk to who understands what they are going through. It's not about megapixels as much as filling a need that many of us have. Sure, meeting in group settings might be ideal for the able bodied but for those who have been devastated by stroke people will take mega pixels, kilobytes or whatever to have human contact and live answers in a time of need. Do you see that we all are not just snowflakes with no meaning but are human beings trying to make the best of the cards we have been dealt.

    Elrod Hendicks

Elrod Hendicks and me with my family at the StrokeNet Golf Classic. Unfortunately, he died of a heart attack, last night. He would have been 64 today. He also had a stroke this Spring. He played for the Orioles for almost 15 years and was their Bullpen Coach for 28 years. He was definitely one of the most pleasant person I have ever met!
