I'm a Canadian living in California and I'll be 53 soon. My wife and I are both diabetic.

Computers have been my entire career, first as a programmer (and fancier titles) and more recently doing networking and security. Fortunately most of that can be done from my desk, and the rest can usually be handled by colleagues. I learned to program my first machine in 1969 at age 12 -- I may be one of the older members of the "Digital Generation". (I just glanced around my office and counted seven -- no, make that eight! -- computers.... Two are Macs, one runs Ubuntu Linux, and they all run Windows (except the two that currently don't run ))

I'm also a digital photographer (find me on flickr, http://www.flickr.com) and Esperantist (user of the International Language, Esperanto). I'm interested in and know a lot about science fiction and things nautical and naval.

I'm a Humanist. Maybe not quite as certain as an Atheist, but I believe in People more than in Prayer.

I also "play" Second Life, where my avatar is named Stealth Snook.
