Hi, my name is Orlando. I had a stroke in June of 2009. It changed my life forever. I was in the hospital from June 28th to August 10 of 2009. I went home in August with a trach in my throat, a feeding tube in my stomach and NO mobility on my left side. My days consisted of range of motion on my left side, being feed through a feeding tube, meds three times a day, having my trach cleaned daily and JUST laying in bed, wondering how all this happened.. At the end of August i started to get mobility in my left big toe, then in my leg and then further up. Home therapy was arranged for me to start on September 22, 2009, 2 days a week...I stood for the first time since my stroke, on that day. My progression continued until i was walking, with a cane from my bedroom to my livingroom...On November 23, 2009 I entered in-house rehab for physical, occupational and speech therapy..I was discharged on December 6, 2009 to go back home and continue with out-patient therapy.. My progress continued. I did out patient for 2 months...My therapist told me to go home and continue everything they taught me. I did, and today (Nov. 15, 2011) I have had the trach removed, I'm eating, walking, talking, using my computer and more...I feel blessed just to have the use of one hand for now, cause my left hand is getting better everyday!
