  2. Janelle, you could use it, three times a week it is open for business at midday here in NZ, thats about 2pm Australia.! Would love to see you on it..... Deigh
  3. We had a mad impulse last year and bought a three seater lazy-boy type settee. Couldnt afford it but it was offered on three years no interest HP with a Xmas discount and a senior citizen discount so we trembled a bit and took the bait. Love it.
  4. Hey Green Queen, have you had a look at the chat function? I've been on it for a few years and its rather fun. you can get to it via the main site and three days a week the evening chat is sometime in our morning. Have a look at it sometime. Deigh
  5. We are often well down on numbers. A few years ago we could have as many as eight at one time, nowadays four is a big number and quite often I find myself on my own and have to talk to myself! Deigh
  6. Welcome back to the club Susan, there is not a lot of activity going on at this moment but we all hope it will change. The chat forum is still going regularly and I get on to it most days .Deigh
  7. I'm a regular user of the chat part of the forum but have had very few conversations this week. First day Sue and another person was there but the regular Asha was unusually not and have not heard from her. Anyone know why? Deigh
  8. Well. its obvious that I'm not on my own with this train of thought, Scientists tell me that in twenty years time the average age will be 60, but scientists have been wrong before. Many years ago that said that when they could split the atom the world would have limitless clean power! Deigh
  9. All our grandkids have grown up and most of them have partners, There are no great grandkids in the pipeline which is a shame but understandable, I wouldn't want to bring kids into this present world. Deigh
  10. I'm not up to date with the cannabis scene, it is definitely not openly legally but there are times when it can be used in a medical treatment. Do you think I have bought something that could hook me? I can assure you that there is no craving for another dose and there seems to be no after effects. I'm sure that if it was in way illegal it would not be allowed to advertise on radio. Deigh
  11. Following an ad on the local radio I purchased a small bottle of Sleepdrops from my chemist. The product is easily applied and has worked well the few times I've used it with no after effects. It worked reasonably quickly for those times when sleep escaped me. Deigh

    COVID

Had all he injections but covid caught up with my wife and I at the same time but were both different. I had long covid and I think I'm at last through it. It was pretty uncomfortable and just kept coming back every few days. For the last week I've felt good and am having to take care not to overdo things. Masks are seen only rarely here in New Zealand and there is no compulsion to wearing them. Deigh
  13. A few months ago I bought a pad specially to read E-books. I download the books for free using 'Libby'. This has been a great boon because I dont have to carry heavy books home from the library, It has similar problems to selecting a book from the shelf inasmuch as you are not sure you will like the book but at least if you dont like you can instantly dump the thing and select another. What it has done is increase the range of books I normally read and that is not a bad thing. Deigh
  14. Whoopee, I see we recently have had a new member joined us. This is the first new one since January and I welcome her/him. Since USA has about 1000 new stroke victims every day it is surprising how few find their way onto this forum. I use regularly the chat forum and we get a few new people occasionally trying to make contact but very few actually understand the system and actually manage to join in conversations. Deigh Davies
  15. Well, the re-built site doesn't seem to be attracting newcomers or even the old brigade. I see only one newcomer and that was back in January....Anyway, back to speech...... I was showing great signs of progress with my speech but Covid put a brake on it when my social life was seriously restricted. Things are improving again but as all survivors know one has to continue working on ones shortcomings to even maintain the improvements one has fought to gain. I am back to enjoying daily walks and chatting to people I meet on my way, also calling on op-shops just to chat with the volunteer workers in them. I try to whistle tunes as I am walking but that habit is easily forgotten! I also try to do a daily exercise of my mouth by saying out loud rhymes and amusing cliches like Six Thick Liquorish Sticks Anyone else got any good ideas? Deigh
  16. That's a fascinating deduction, not sure whether to agree or not but I have to limit everything I do to avoid exhaustion. Since I am 93 now I can honestly blame age plus the stroke for it. Look forward to hearing more about it though. Deigh
  17. 'we already have screwed up immune systems'. Wow Heather, that really caught my eye! Please elaborate on this comment. Have you been studying it? Or was it just something you have heard. I'm quite fascinated! Deigh
  18. Thanks for your concern, Apart from the big pool just below us on the common ground getting bigger we have had no serious problems. The wind messed up my garden a bit but the flat is waterproof so nothing got in. We are in a fortunate area, other parts of NZ have had it real bad . Some have no power and may be without it for months. Think there have been six deaths over NZ including one firefighter. I am going through a bad spell of not being able to throw off Covid, Headaches which I thought I'd lost with my stroke 9 years ago, are coming back. Though not as severe as I used to have, are still uncomfortable. Deigh
  19. You are getting the knack of that drone flying Mark, have you got your licence now? Deigh
  20. Just had another read of all the entries and comments. My speech is getting worse despite the removal of mask wearing. Seems like everyone has got so used to isolation that it hs become normal behaviour. Looking forward to the odd community activities like fairs and markets coming back into stream again. Deigh
  21. The weather seems to have gone beserk, we have had 350mils of rain in the last 24 hours and its raining again! Deigh
  22. Good to hear from you again, people are not rushing to the newly fixed site and that is a problem because its a case of use it or lose it. Deigh
  23. For the last year or so I've had the odd look at this forum to see if it is working again. Last week I found to my joy that it has returned from the dead. I have sent messages to all my friends from the forum to tell them the good news. I was hoping they would be able to pass the message on but if this is happening it is rather slow. So if you can spread the word then please do so. Deigh
  24. Hey, I think the site is up and running again. Incredible! Deigh
  25. I want to send a message to Alan D but when I click on his pix and try I get a message saying that my inbox is full and I ust clear it before continuing...What inbox? I cant find one?
