  1. yep I think that happens a lot these days, no matter where you're from
  2. So sorry that idiots stuffed up your night out. I can't imagine having a bar or the auditorium doors open during a performance. We can usually bring our drinks in (so long as they are not in glass) but once the doors shut they are shut (although I think the ushers will let you out to the loo if you ask). I too get cross at the number of people who think a disabled loo is a free for all, I get quite a few dirty looks when I use one these days as I don't look so much like I need one any more. Especially if I've looked at the queue for the regular loo and then gone to the disabled one. People don't understand that standing in a queue makes me too disabled to use the regular loos, not to mention the "joys" of weakened pelvic floor control, meaning I might need room to change underclothes.
  3. fingers crossed the guy gets what he really deserves

    New everything!

Hi Will it sounds like a good move. I hope the new place is filled with good times.
  5. I Totally understand that Sue. I wish I could offer something better. Try to keep positive, although that's hard when you see the cases rising every day. and the government not getting on top of it. You do your bit, and hope other people do too.
  6. Hi Sue it does get hard when the lockdown seems to stretch ahead of you "forever". The internet is your friend at this point. Get some home delivered art projects, buy some new wool online, download and print a colouring book, try some new recipes (sourdough bread baking was very popular in Vic last year, or a ginger beer plant). Take an online yoga or meditation class. Also make sure you use your exercise hour every day to leave the house even if all you do is walk around your block. This will get better eventually. The hard part at the moment is being back in it after we had almost 6 months of fairly normal, the in and out and being unable to plan anything is what is getting to me, every time I put something to look forward to into the calendar it gets cancelled, usually on the day before. At the moment I'm crossing my fingers for my WA trip in November, as things are getting worse and worse the chances it will get cancelled get higher and higher.
  7. Hang in there Paul, let it go when you can. Adjusting to this new life takes time, and I mean both the post stroke life and the Covid life. Both Suck in some very similar ways. A little whine/whinge is fine, but once you've done that, pick up your bundle and keep on trudging. And we are happy to listen to your whine so you don't have to burden those close to you. I do hope the worst is over, but Delta seems to be changing lots of things, it's much more transmissible and transmissible earlier, it also seems to be more likely to put someone into hospital, and the treatments they have been using for the last year are not as successful either. I hope your medical friends are right but I'm not holding my breath either. It's not helped that here we are way behind with getting people fully vaccinated.
  8. Hope the nap was restorative. Part 1 is certainly very readable and coherent. I agree with you about the living in fear thing. Do what needs to be done to stay safe but try not to let that turn into fear.
  9. It is so hard to give up the visits, but Sue you can do this, disappointing as it is. Covid and these restrictions are particularly hard on location split families. However with so many people still not vaccinated and this nasty strain of the virus on the loose we don't have much choice. Stay safe and try to stay sane, video calls are not the same, but they are better than no contact. Fingers crossed for the next visit. Hang in there -Heather
  10. I'm living near Trentham at the moment and it does snow here, when the conditions are right. Many people here wear down coats and jackets, I guess that is the same as taking your doona 🙂
  11. Oh Dear, poor Carrah. Congrats to Connor and to you for getting them both through those stressors. So glad that Carrah has been to the counselor about the assault, but its a process and there is no quick fix, so she may need to keep talking for a while, I do hope she is able to adjust and put it behind her but it takes as long as it takes and there is no right way or time to be "better" from such a thing. Hugs for you too, such things hit the whole family hard. -Heather

    Anniversary

even if they don't affect ibs, I bet they still play hell with the diabetes, be careful -Heather
  13. Hi Deigh maybe an under desk cycle something like this https://www.self.com/gallery/best-under-the-desk-exercisers. You can also use some of them for hand/arm pedaling. Janelle, you don't want to cut the tendon completely, you want to do tendon lengthening surgery, where they do a zig zag cut that lets them pull the tendon longer without breaking it, and then you need to stretch it regularly as it heals so it remains at a good length and functional. they tried to do that in my calf when I had the tendon surgery in my quad (rec fem), but there was too much scar tissue (probably from long term clonus tearing the muscle) so they didn't do it. But I got enough extra length in the quad that it hasn't been necessary to do my calf, although my calf muscles don't really work because the scar tissue stops them from contracting properly too.
  14. lucky you, mine took about 3 days and my psychiatrist was impressed with the quick result.
  15. Many Neuro drugs need time to buildup enough in your system before they work, e.g. the SSRI that I take for Emotional lability takes 3 - 10 days to build enough to make a difference. on the bright side it also takes longer to lose effect if you miss a dose, so missing one tablet is usually not a problem. Although you are supposed to wean on or off them rather than just stop taking them. So Benni give it at least 10 days to build in your system before deciding if you should try a higher dose. and remember the larger the dose the longer it'll take to come off them later if you have to. Fingers crossed and try to be patient 🙂 Heather
  16. Hi Benni, glad to hear you're doing well other than this new development. No idea how Gabapentin works, or how long it should take to work, best to ask the Doc that.
  17. Yay for the Fuzz, that's one happy and extremely relaxed kitty 🙂 Jade's phantom jumps on my bed when I'm half asleep and she's in the other room.
  18. Nothing like knowing we are all going crazy in our own way but still all the same 🙂
  19. Life in the last 18 - 24 months has been full of extremes hasn't it, and it's not over yet. So many opportunities for things to be better seem to have been lost. But yes Tracy you have to laugh or you'll end up in the loony house, Enjoy the little bits of peace you can find, the crazy is right up close at the moment. I was supposed to be working in the office yesterday, but had to stay home because I have a sneeze/cough/sore throat. I know I haven't got "it", and I should probably go get a test done, but I just don't want to. Right now I'm focusing on getting this cold out of my system so I can get my vaccination next week. The medical people/media are moaning here about the low fluvacs rate this year, but I think it's because those of us who usually gets flu vacs in March/April are waiting to do our covid vacs first, you have to wait 14 days between them, and the stuff ups with the covid vacs roll out has meant we haven't done our fluvacs as normal.
