  6. Hi Fred, It is sooo good to hear from you. I love that you are keeping up with those eagles. :You-Rock: We are getting more and more eagles making their home here on my Hidden Island Paradise Of course, we are still growing potatoes here Fred. New P.E.I. potatoes are an excellent choice. We love our potatoes. Note to self: please do a post on my blog about eagles and potatoes for Fred. Well Fred I will be honored to be your "Friend" on Facebook if you ever decide to set up an account. Actually Facebook is policed well and I have not heard of those things happening in any of the stroke communities. By the way Stroke Network is there with a little over 2,000 people on their page. Take care my friend! I wish you the very best in your continued recovery. Smiles :thumbsu: Gary

  8. Hi Asha, just stopped by to say hey, and connect with you as a friend. Hope all is good with you and yours. Take care, - Gary

  9. Hi Asha, I just stopped by to check a reference that I gave today for a newspaper interview. While here I came across your post. You have been very faithful in your duties for the past four years. You have always been very kind to me whenever I would post to my blog. Thank you! I wish you well in whatever the future holds for you. I have been very busy with the Heart and Stroke Foundation in our province. I have also been working with a caregivers group and attended a workshop on stroke in Quebec City in June. Just today I had a one hour national conference call with a national stroke committee, A video recorded testimonial for the P,E.I. Dept of Health on a new skills based healthy living program, a local newspaper interview and a meeting with a Jr. writers group that I also work with. There are lots of things to get involved with in our local communities when we have arrived at that point in our recovery. BTW Kyle is doing very well. He spends about 4 - 6 weeks in rehab and then 4 - 6 months at home. He tells me that he is still very much experiencing improvement. take care, smiles Gary
  10. Hi Suzie Welcome back!!! Congrats on your Five year anniversary. Thank you for sharing cus the more we share means the more we care! Wishing you well going forward. Smiles Gary
  11. Hi Asha Thanks for your comment. I found the Olympic Games very interesting aspecially since I am so familiar with both the Vancouver and the Whistler areas. Brought back lots of good memories. The other great thing was that I had both Canadian and American family there and they were posting on their Facebook accounts with pictures. Of course I do have to mention Heather Moise our local girl two man bobsleigh breakman that won Gold. I am sincerely sorry that you got the bulk of our winter this year. Glad that you were able to enjoy some storm days with family. Smiles Gary
  12. Hi Sue Thanks for dropping by with your comment. Good to know that things are well in the land of Oz. Your winter sounds much like Vancouver. Mild, grey and rainy. I don't think I would like that much either. Take care Sue. Smiles Gary
  13. Hi again everyone Just came by to say hi. It seemed like Feb flew by with the Olympics and everything. March is here already. We are having a great winter with temps on average about 4 degrees above normal. No snow to speak of and only one storm day that wasn't really much of a storm day at all. An interesting year as the USA not only took the largest medal haul at the Olympics but has also taken Canada's 2010 winter as well. lol That's ok, but I hope no one minds when the polar bears begin hanging out in Florida. Climate change , global warming and an earthquake that can actually make the earth move on it's axis. This is definitely NOT our fathers world. Stay tuned for the next BIG story. (whatever it might be) Smiles Gary
  14. Hello I just dropped by to see if the blog was working again. The last time that I came by the posts were not posting properly. This is just my test post to see if everything is back to (should I say it?) normal. Normal can mean a lot of different things to a stroke survivor. I think you will know what I mean when I am testing to ensure that the blog is posting normally again. Smiles Gary
  15. Hello again everyone I didn't realize just how long it has been since my last blog post. April 09. WOW! Well the bottom line is that the last few months have been busy. Where to Start? Kyle has been doing pretty awesome. Home over the summer and back to the treatment centre in the fall for a bit more treatment. He is getting so active that it is almost impossible to keep track of him. He seems to be getting along really well and has great support from his family and friends. Hint If you see an orange streak wising by don't be surprised. It most likely would only be Kyle on his Arctic Cat snowmobile. lol These are Facebok links so you will have to be signed up to Facebook in order to view them. sorry... http://www.facebook.com/#/album.php?aid=-3...9728&ref=mf As for me, I had a great summer promoting and selling copies of our book "Prince Edward Island Tales." http://www.facebook.com/garydotgray?v=wall...gid=98347554794 http://www.amazon.com/Prince-Edward-Montag...1820&sr=8-1 My family is growing as we welcomed grandchild number two into the world on November 27th. Grandaughter Lily Krista MacEwen. http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=2899...0143&ref=mf While our eight month grandson William Konor Gray Murphy is getting ready to go walking soon. http://www.facebook.com/#/album.php?aid=-3&id=761999917 So all in all there are few dull moments for me lately. I hope everyone is doing great and I will try not to leave it: let me see 12345...8 months before I post to my blog again. Smiles Gary p.s. We are working at getting a stroke caregivers support group set up in Charlottetown here on Prince Edward Island. http://www.facebook.com/pages/strokecaregivers/164146583926 p.p.s. If you are a Facebook user please add me to your Facebook friends... Thanks! http://www.facebook.com/pages/strokecaregi...ray?ref=profile GG
  16. Hi Asha Thanks for your reply. I will try to work at geting some pictures posted here as soon as possible. Smiles Gary
  17. Hi girls Yes Kyle is a great kid! Considering the condition that he was in a year ago when he stroked, it is nothing short of amazing the recovery that he is making. I really believe that with his positive attitude, determination and willingness to work hard he will continue to recover well into the future. He has the ability to set goals and work toward attaining them. He is an inspiration to us all. Smiles Gary
  18. Hi everyone I just thought to check and see if there were any new posts from mama J. She did post this last weekend and here is what she had to say. Darlene Jay wrote at 4:16pm on April 19th, 2009 Kyle continues to make progress and now is in Fredericton at the Stan Cassidy Rehab Center. His body is getting stronger and the right leg is taking some steps, rebuilding his trunk and need good trunk to be able to walk. His speech is getting better as the soft palette is beginnign to work. He is now is a power chair and loves having freedom already got caught going to fast too funny. We see each weekend when we come to Fredericton how much stronger and independant he is getting. He is doing awesome. :gleam: It seems that our boy Kyle is starting to find his wings. Kyle has such a great attitude combined with the patience to make this thing work I really feel that he is headed for great things... Till next post, Smiles Gary
  19. Hi Donna and Asha Thanks so much for your comments. We are beginning to move in the right direction. I have a stroke caregivers workshop to attend on Wednesday and we are in the midst of organizing a support group of Stroke caregivers. I know there are between at least 20 and 40 that have expressed strong interest in such a group. The brain injury support group now has split into two groups with meetings every alternating two weeks. There is a major funds raising night coming in May for the brain injury groups. It is wonderful to see the interest , support and growth starting to blossom in our area. I am trying not to get too involved directly but just just give a gentle touch to assist in the direction from time to time. Thanks so much for all of your support. Smiles Gary
  20. Hi Everyone The front page headline in our daily newspaper The Guardian featured my stroke buddy John Montgomery and his wife bev. Again I explain further on my Signs of a Stroke blog post. Click Here to go to the post. Please read the post and the article if you can. Thanks! Smiles Gary
  21. Hello everyone This is just a short post to give you a link to my Signs of a Stroke blog where I posted the details. Here is the link... I talked to Kyle last nite after the announcement and he was litterly pumped! He told me that he is doing way better than he was in Charlottetown. I understand that he is taking steps and saying words. They changed his meds and now he has much more energy. He was home for Easter and tried out the renovations to his parents house. Everything worked well he said. How did I talk to Kyle you might ask. By using the chat feature that is built into Facebook. We can type back and forth in real time and he has no problem keeping up his end of the conversation. Check out that blog post if you can for all the details. Click here to go there Til next post, Smiles Gary
  22. Joy: Happy that you got the eagle cam. Yep they are awesome. Donna: Great!Happy you liked them. Fred: Sorry if I missed your question on the eagles earlier. Actually I just found this link and put it up as evetone enjoyed them two years ago.
  23. Hello everyone I just ran across a link to view live streamng video of the British Columbia Eagles this year. http://www.hancockwildlifechannel.org/inde...topic=cam-sites I know that the site was extremely popular with everyone a couple of years ago. The technology has improved and there seems to be less viewers so the live video is pretty good. There are a couple of eagle nest locations on that one site. Go, check it out and let me know what you think... Thanks! http://www.hancockwildlifechannel.org/inde...topic=cam-sites On another topic. As I write this I am waiting for the QVC live broadcast of the Posit Science Software that I mentioned on my last post. As we are right now under three hours to air time 11: 00 PDT I thought I should mention it as a reminder. http://www.qvc.com/onair/liveshow.aspx?rewrite=no I hope you all get to see both the live broadcast of the software and the streaming video of the West Coast Eagle nests. Till next post, Smiles Gary
  24. Hello again everyone I just received this e-mail this evening from the people at Pasit Science. (intended for information purposes only) Dear gary, The human brain is one of the most complex structures in the universe and Posit Science is teaming up with QVC to help you learn more about how the brain works and what you can do to change yours for the better. Tune into QVC this Sunday, April 12th at 11:00 p.m. Pacific Time/Monday, April 13th at 2:00 a.m. Eastern Time to see Posit Science's Dr. Henry Mahncke talk about how the brain helps us see and how our vision changes as we age. 25. Hi everyone I would like you to meet a fellow stroke survivor (Ron Gardiner) who has a mission to help other stroke survivors and their families deal and recover from such a catastrophic event as stroke. Ron is being interviewed this upcoming week on XM/Sirius Radio and if you have access and are able to listen then here are the details from Ron. "I will be a guest XM/Sirius radio the week of April 6th on booktalk radio discussing my Take Brave Steps book. I wanted to invite all my friends to listen. Continued good health and happiness. Ron" My hope is to get to know Ron a little better over the next while and maybe to work with him to further his goals as they are mine as well. I encourage you to listen if you are able.
