Thanks for the warm welcome everyone. Just had my 1 week checkup after the PFO closure and everything is looking as it should. Although since the stroke I have noticed not necessarily a balance issue, but sometimes when walking I'll kind of drift off course to the right. Cardiologist lowered BP medication because when I was in for the operation my pulse would drop to 30-40 for short time periods. Also recommended Vitamin D supplements since that came back low as well. Hopefully with all these improvements I'll have more energy than I know what to do with.
  2. Hello all. I'm 40 years old and had a stroke in February. Symptoms only lasted a few hours and have no lasting effects luckily. While in the hospital the MRI revealed the signs of an older stroke that I didn't even know I had. After wearing a Holter heart monitor for a month that didn't reveal any abnormalities that would've caused the stroke, they pinned the blame on my PFO. (Another thing they discovered during my hospital stay). Just had that closed last week and feel good. Hopefully this reduces my risk of future strokes. Was told by doctors and nurses that I was really lucky and has been a wake-up call that definitely led to some lifestyle changes.
