I found that playing games and puzzles is much more difficult that it used to be.

Reading is difficult to concentrate. I have to read over some texts to make sure that I understand the meaning of what the text means. I have some ADHD, that doesn't help.

I talked to my counselor yesterday and he recommends something called Cognitive Rehabilitation. I am going to look up what this entails. There are several places that provide the services.

I am going to try calling VCU today. They have a similar program. I need to look into what their program offers.

Have you tried these types of programs?

Hope that sounds great! Yes... I again very much relate. I actually see my Psychiatrist every other month. I see my therapist for Cognitive Behavior Therapy once per week. So yes I think. Mine will be ongoing. Let me know what you find out. Thanks for giving me an update it's nice to talk with you. 🙂

I have found some Cognitive Behavior Therapy places. I have not looked into their methods.

Have you found any ways that you found helpful? I just started to look at some of the ways to understand the concepts. I am going to look through more to see if they are different or better.

  3. Some of the people on line take a lot of time. I try to keep things short, but Sometimes I talk too much, too.
  4. I get confused about which thing I am sending to other people. I started by sending only a few times. each day or week. That makes me able to look at each one individual post. I still get confused about how the others put so many on the site. I know that I have missed a few.

Keep trying to find people that may have similar questions or ideas.

      Hi Hope!

I am sorry to take so long to reply, I was away on vacation.I am not too sure if you mean the forum, or chat.  Please ask Kelli or Asha, as they are both better with computers. I hope to see you on chat sometime!

Thank you. I hope you had a nice vacation. I am not sure which is for forum, or chat. I have tried to do some other chats, but there are a lot of different posts. I have been talking too much some times.

I would rather listen to a few people in a small group than large groups.

  5. I got on late today. I missed most of the chat. I was interested in how many of you have problems putting words together. Some days I can talk very well, However, many days I cannot think of the words that I need.
  6. I have not read too many of your messages. HopeE

I will try to get there more often.

  7. I have just joined this group today. I am a senior stroke survivor of 5 years. I am interested in joining this group so that I can understand some of the issues that other stroke victims have encountered.

Can you please help me with finding the right group and learning how to use the program. I have sent two notes so far. Only one of the came back or responded.

Is there a way to follow people that I have sent messages. Obviously you have, but I don't know who they are or how to talk to them.

      Hope, hello!

Sorry, I'm not too great at the inside and outs of the board.

I've been here a while, but all I do really, is the actual main...thing! I don't even know what it's called!

Firstly,  I am very glad you found us! There is so much beautiful camaraderie here.

To share with others is good for the soul.

So your first step will be to introduce yourself on the board, where everyone can meet you.

We are currently on my profile page, where it's just you and me. A lovely place to start, knowing someone before you dive in!

To put a message on the board:

      Click on the tab COMMUNITY

once you have done that, click on

      FORUMS

that's where most things take place.

You'll see a START NEW TOPIC icon.

Click on that, and select NEWBIE STROKE SURVIVOR INTRODUCTIONS

When you click on that, you'll be able to create a thread that everyone can see, and they'll all welcome you to the site.

I've just noticed in the NEWBIE section, there's a thread for newcomers to read. That could be useful?

People know their way around, Kelli or Tracy will be good go to people for help on different things.  They are super knowledgeable about the site.

To read all the action, click on UNREAD CONTENT and all new content will pop up.

I have only just realised (seriously!!) the little pic next to it, looks like a newspaper, is what you click on, on your phone. I use my phone a lot, as it's easier to hold.

Once you have introduced yourself,  you can start threads in relevant places.

I hope I've been somewhat helpful to you, Hope.

Look forward to seeing you on the site.
