    Easter Weekend

I love horses and got the opportunity to walk through the stables and grounds of Spruce Meadows in Alberta. It is a equestrain area where they hold world jumping competitions.. I found it very peaceful. . Probably the best therapy for some one who wants to destress..We had the RCMP musical ride in our town and the men and their horses were being stabled just down the road so got to pet the horses and see how they relate to their riders.. very intelligent and beautiful.. The guys are quite handsome too.. I have ridden a few times, like to gallop, but it is scarry at first.. have to get the hang of it..I don't to like to trot.. That is great that you did that, Keep on truckin and you will see how it will help you improve.. think positive and you will get there just believe in yourself as I can see you have excellent support..
  2. I know how you feel about not being able to look after the one who needs you so to take care of yourself. I ended being taken to the hospital by ambulance cause I could not walk or move due to back pain and spasms. I had a person who could not do much in the way of assisting me as my caregiver who is aphasic to some extent trying to help.. Not much fun.. So the moral of the story is to take of yourself too, as a sick caregiver is of no use to anyone else..,

    Just another day

Way to go Amy Things are really sounding like they are looking up.. It's nice to care again how one looks and grooms themself..I have always tried to make that a part of our lives, but since hubby had his stroke he has gotten a bit more lax, however now he is growing a goatee and is pretty much aware of the style. He now has to keep it groomed and is trying to style it.. Should be an interesting development in the process of recovery... My motto is when you look good, you feel good, though at times it is not always possible to feel good either..I love to dress up and try and keep up with the styles to and extent, so if they make me look good I will buy them..We do not have a big selection here a it is a small city, therefore one has to go shopping more often, but that's OK too :giggle: :giggle: Keep your chin up and keep dressing up ...Up, up and away...
  4. Snow, snow, snow, I'm so sick of it .. It put me in the hospital this month..Shovelling I put my back out and had to go to the hosp in the ambulance as I couldn't walk or stand.. very funny feeling when I can just imagine how terrible it is to unable to walk or stand every day...A bouquet to all those who face these problems..Glad spring is right around the corner can't wait...
  5. Bad mistake to pull up those sticks. They could have been lilies or plants that come to life later... Oh well you'll have a new bed with great plants you and hubby picked yourselves and will be proud of your accomplishments.. Don't plant mint unless in a container as it will spread too, it does smell nice though.. good luck with you gardening...At last spring!!!!! :Clap-Hands: :cheer:

    Death in Family...

So sorry to hear of your father inlaw's passing... It is always a very sad time when our loved leaves us.Please know that I share in your sorrow and extend my sympathies.. I just lost my dear mother inlaw a month ago and know how difficult a time it was.. We were with her when she passed it was very peaceful and touching. She was going to be 94 in early April of this year. She had a long and happy life enjoying all her grandchildren and great grandchildren with all their many entertaining moments and sometimes doing things she didn't approve of.. For her memorial luncheon one fo her great granddaughters played a tune on the violin and dedicated it to her, Saying " This one's for you granny". This brought tears to a lot of eyes as she is a very accomplished player for her age as she just turned 11..
  7. sorry to be repeating this again,BUT,, it is very important to get this gas problem fixed.. If they the apt. owners of caretakers won't do any thing just refuse to pay the rent till you get a clean bill from and approved inspector that all is well in the fireplace and it tis safe to use it..
  8. It makes me tired just reading your blog.. Yes I to agree that Trevor should help with the clean up...You must remember that if you get sick and can't look after Ray he will have to go into respite and you may have to join him... I know we all like to get things done and over with but one can only do so much. Take care of yourself and get some rest>>>>
  9. I think cleaning toilets should be written into the prenuptial agreement stating each partner has equal responsibility at keeping their part of the throne polished,so that either member can sit down and get up with dignity... enough said...
  10. sorry for the double up of the blog but it told me I had a error so didn't want to loose the reply and sent it twice....still learning
  11. Hi Mel I was wondering when you would be home from the hospital and when we would here from you again. Hope you are feeling better now and can continue to be a part of our family group.. I have been rather preoccupied with a sick mother in law who had to be spoon fed for time, and then passed away the middle of Feb this year.. As my hubby is too emotional and could not handle the stress I had to be there for him and her too. I know what you mean by the house and home needing your attention, but as someone was saying your family was probably very worried about you and not thinking of the house. It will all come to order soon till then concentrate on getting well and forget about a really tidy orderly house .. It's five years in June since hubby's stroke and I am just now getting to clean out the corners I had to leave undone..I really bugged me and now I am purging and hopefully doing a good down size that I can live with...Keep on blogging ...Lots of hugs{{{]]] deenie
  12. we have a gas fireplace and use it as a source of heat all the time. I think that you should have it checked by a fireplace company or some one else that knows something about gas fireplaces.. It seems to me there is not enough ventilation in the unit or there must be a gas leak somewhere in the house..I would get a gas inspector to come and look at it and also ask him why your carbon monoxide monitor registered so high...and maybe check your furnace if it is also gas.or any other appliances that may use gas...hope this helps... don't wait, gas leaks are dangerous...iIncidendly the logs are over the gas outlet and have nothing to do with the gas outlet... it is like a gas barbecue and then they put logs on it for decoration... maybe you have a different type but I don't think so????

  15. Bonnie your project sounds like something my hubby and I used to do together, but since his stoke he cannot remember how to do some stuff.. It is slowly coming back and I am hoping that this year we will be able to finish the things we couldn't get done before his stroke...It will be 5 years in June since his stroke and he still continues to improve... I said I would wait for him to do some of the things he can and then hire the rest.. It is nearly impossible to get any help as there is a shortage of labor here so you just have to wait.. We are not used to that cause we used to do all that ourselves..His confidence has improved and he is so much more positive even though he is still quite trying at times...Sometimes he doesn't understand the meaning of the spoken word but now he tells me that he is confused.. A very big step in our lives...good luck with your decorating, I have lots to do too..
  16. I won't add any more advice only that maybe it's for the better that they found the Afib and now can deal with it. In the mean time take care of yourself, and am send hugs and prayers... Deenie
  17. :yukyukyuk: Just think no mosquitos... I'm sure that in the spring there will be lots and then we'll be saying we wish it would freeze for just day so we could get rid of the pesky little devils..I too hate the gloomy days of winter and long for the sunny days of the tropics .. though I don't think any one had the greatest weather as I know someone who took a cruise and the ship was listing in the high waves and gales..We have lots of snow here too but not like some of the areas in the east.. here's to spring   :
  18. Keep your chin up and I will also await your blog when Ray comes home.. till then remember to take care of your self as you will be busy when you have to resume your duties once again.. As you say they could change as he may have forgotten how to do the things he once was able to do.. I wish you luck and send my thoughts and prayers.. I hope to blog again but have been very busy...
  19. Denny I know how you feel it makes you feel independent again, but it could make you very dependent next time. As for the next time I hope there is no more people that will take advantage of your kindness, and realize that this is not for you.. Let them hire some one else. I am just sending you a : :bop: and hope you do not do something that silly again.. Deenie
  20. Hi my thoughts are with you... I can relate to that, as my elderly mother inlaw is slowly dying and all we can do is try and feed her a bit, be there for her and hold her hand. She is too weak to open her eyes but she still knows we are there.. She too has lost a lot of weight.. We must remember the good times and all the fun we had.. These special moments can not be taken away and will live on in the generations to come. My husband is very emotional and finds it hard to visit with her very long as she can't relate to him any more so I end up going myself..The nursing home she is in is very kind to her and we could not care for her any better . It is only a few minutes from where we live so it is handy for someone to be there a couple times a day..We must remember they ae going to a better place.

    Wernicke's Aphasia

I have been trying to find out which part of the brain hubby's aphasia is in too,and all I get is ask your dr. who we all know has no time for such nonsence.. I always suspected it was in that area but don't know where to look on the internet to find the right site..
  24. What a hard decision to make about someone elses life.. We also have a mother who is slowly dying and also has complications that are inoperable, so between her family and the Dr. we chose to make her as comfortable as possible and be there for her at all times.. Some days she doesn't respond to much and says she is tired and really doesn't want to eat.. We go there twice a day and try and get a little fluid into her but it takes a lot of coaxing and time.. She has alziemers and also no cirulation in her little toe which is black and will develop into gangarene in time, but she is too old to have any surgery. It is just a matter of time . She is almost 94 years old.. Your thoughts and prayers will be with me and take care as it is very draining on the family..
  25. I too think you're doing a great job Sue, and all you others caregivers out there... I say walk a mile in my shoes and then judge me???We all know it takes a special person to tolerate some of the problems that go with the job.. Keep up the good work and hang in there.....
