Does it ever stop

Recommended Posts

I blacked out the other day after two TIAs 5th nov and the 20th nov went and seen my GP she said my carotid artery was blocking up again, wouldn't be so bad if the other one worked but that one is totally blocked and no chance of fixing it so going to see specialist in Brisbane hospital 8th Dec. I just wish everything would settle down I like to be positive about life but you get to a point were you think whats the use, because as soon as you get over one hurdle another pops its ugly head and says jump higher I just don't know if i can jump any higher. to be honest, well i cant comment on that it is not appropriate to say it on StrokeNet

Allan

PS

I must have been such an *beep* in my previous life

Allan,

I'm sorry to hear about you having issues with blacking out. Do the episodes occur when you are possibly trying to exert and complete a task?

I wish you the best for your appointment at the Brisbane Hospital.

Trying to jump through hoops is difficult at best; take it easy and do the best you can do dear friend. Take care.

hi allan

by the way, thank you for your idea regarding my post my arm and hand pain.

you know when i started having the arm and hand pain ....and then when the pain increased, i thought....what now! what does life want from me? just to sit placidly as my body falls apart? i thought i am supposed to keep up the recovery journey and grasp all of life that i can...........now, as i read your post i can only say i have a glimmer of what you feel with the blackouts and blockages. allan, i believe i would be asking the same questions as you.....it is like waiting for the other shoe to drop. i agree it often seems as if we just get through one situation and up pops some other crappyola. life sure is not fair in the distribution of crap. i do know that for many of us here at the site you are an inspiration and it is your positive attitude that teaches the rest of us to be more humble.

i think if you didn't question the point of all that has happened and sometims wonder why bother or what is the point of a positive attitude ....well, you would not be human. you are a survivor and in your core you are a fighter. see the doc on dec 8th...i am thinking that 2009 will bring you the comfort and stability you seek. i am honored to know someone of your strength......don't give up. :friends: kathy

Put a smile on your face and thank the Lord you are still here. I for one am greateful I have met you. See you soon, Take care,

Allen,

WE all wonder and worry to some extent whether we admit it or not. Your case is close to mine from the pain standpoint. I wish you the best and by the 8th of December they will figure out what is the best course of action to take much like they did Sen, Kennedy a few months ago.

No doubt we remain positive and a will to live with what ever we got left. I often say "Well God made us with two

arms, legs, hands, feet and many other parts of our bodies." So if we should lose one it's not the end.

But I really understand how you feel with two carotid arteries and one already blocked which puts a big strain on your heart trying to pump blood.

Man, I just left the VA hospital yesterday, my ability to walk unassisted just vanished, they gave me Gabapentin and MethylPrednisolone. I feel much better today but still got my gait belt on for my wife to hold on to me. I had to give up working and took Short Term Disability for six months then hang on the rolls for another six months before they consider me resigned. They try to do everything to keep me actively employed.

So Allen, remember you are not a stroke survivor alone, most of us are suffering in one way or another with pains for sure. I even picked up my CPAP breathing machine, my snoring is out of control along with stopping breathing. Now that's scary.

Dear Allen,

The first year or so it seems like it never gets better. I think I had Bill to the doctor's on a weekly basis the weeks he was home and not in the hospital. Then it was difficult because the first year for his 10/2004 stroke was less than his first year for his 3/2005 stroke. Really, for Bill it was a really rough first two years.

You know, it is a lot better to know what you are dealing with than to wonder. I'm glad you found out what caused the blackout..At least the doctors know so they can get you cleaned out! *lease know you are in our prayers and thoughts, Allen.

Warmly,

Ann
