bstockman
Dearest Nancy and family My heart goes out to you. I lost a child. he was not quite 7. He had cancer, it was in 1972. I was looking for this poem. It was given to me when he was ill. I neve knew the author. I did find it on line this evening I'll Lend You A Child by Edgar Guest "I'll lend you for a little time a child of mine," He said. For you to love - while she lives And mourn for when she's dead. It may be six or seven years Or twenty-two or three, But will you, till I call her back, Take care or her for Me? She'll bring her smiles to gladden you, And should this stay be brief You'll have her lovely memories as solace for your grief. I cannot promise she will stay, Since all from earth return, But there are lessons taught down there I want this child to learn. I've looked this world over In search for teachers true, And from the throngs that crowd Life's lanes, I have selected you. Now will you give her all your love, Nor count the labor vain, Nor hate Me when I come to call to Take her back again?" I fancied that I heard them say, "Dear Lord, Thy will be done, For all the joy Thy child shall bring, The risk of grief we'll run. We'll shelter her with tenderness, We'll love her while we may, And for the happiness we've known Forever grateful stay. But should the angels call for her Much sooner than we've planned, We'll brave the bitter grief that comes And try to understand." There are no words right now, but I understand your pain. I hope you find comfort and this poem has always been very dear to me. We had it printed on his memorial cards. ( I did change the gender in the poem for your daughter.. i have seen it written for both .. sending you warm wishes, many hugs and I hope you find some comfort in this poem as I have. Farrell
Grettings with a heavy heart, I think I'm still in shock...Bonnie that Poem was so special. We know Amy was a gift from the beginning of her birth. We counted her as a loan from God to bring her up in the way she should go as God lead. We had her for 21 wonderful years, no bad memories. She will be remembered and missed so much by so many. We had no idea. There were over 650 people @ her celebration of life in the Becker auditorium where she sang in 5 different choirs, she was chosen for the all Northwest choir. You can look her obiturary up on the web site her Dad wrote through tears on:bonnersferryfuneralhome.com. The mennonite church opened there hearts & fed us all after the service, this town is so specail being small, everyne knows everyone.I will share more after the pain has subsided some. So sorry to hear of your loss of your precious son. we are as clay in the masters hands as he molds & shapes from the sufferings we encounter on this earth, it's only temporary. I can see Amy gathering all the little children and singing to them. Take care & again thank you so much for the beautiful poem I believe our children are not our own, they are God's. And a big THANK YOU FOR MY FAMILY @ THIS HOME SITE. YOU ARE ALL PRECIOUS TO ME. i love you ~ Nancy
Sharlord
Lord, I lift up Amy's family and friends as they walk this path of loss and grief. Speak words of comfort to their hearts. send others around that are full of compassion with willing hearts to sit and listen to hearts that are broken. Then send your refreshing spirit to help them take 1 more step. Lord you know the needs, I pray that you will meet every one and let them see you. Let them know in the deepest part of their souls that you are with them. In Jesus's name amen and amen Nancy, My pastor of many years, now via internet as I no longer live in the local area of his church, also lost his son this past year due to an auto accident.
