Floridas medical marijuana collapsing already?

Recommended Posts

Is this the start of a trend in Florida or just an outlier? I suspect a trend now that people realize smoking is not allowed nor is MJ with THC. I've yet to see a doctor who is at all interested in getting certified to recommend MJ to a patient.

Bought a great single malt which I am now enjoying. Lismore....I seem to have built back a tolerance for alchohol. Glad to.

I just got ga free sample of CBD cannabis oil. Seems helpful for minor pain.   Also came with hemp crime which is locally helpful Wish we could get access to smokable real stuff. Saw a store in Germany when we were there but couldn't get back to buy any. It is illegal to bring into the us anyway.

Be careful with cbd oil, I heard about all the good benefits,so I started using it. I get a mild pain med. for all the pain I have everyday. I was asked to give a urine sample for testing. It came back positive for THC! I've never in my life used marijuana! I was cut out of my pain meds. My husband contacted the oil company, they said it can show a positive for THC. That didn't matter to the doctor, still no meds.

I thought that one of the selling points, and why it's not only legal in all 52 states, but available without a prescription, is that it has no THC in it. But you can't test positive for something that is not present. So, it must have enough THC in it to show up on a drug screen, but not enough to get you high? Trace amounts? It should have a disclaimer then. Or, a warning on the bottle. If it doesn't, then this might be an issue to discuss with an attorney.   Becky

Becky, you are right. Cbd oil is supposed to have only trace amounts of THC in it, and is not supposed to show up on a drug screen, but some how it did!

I still think that there should be a warning that this is a possibility on the bottle. People could lose their jobs if they tested positive for THC!And you lost your pain med. This is clearly unfair. How were you supposed to know?     Becky

CBD is still considered schedule 1 under federal law along with all cannabis extracts. To be honest the only ones 'recommending' this here in FL are the Marijuana Doctors but they can't prescribe it because of it's schedule so it doesn't end up in the prescription database. Right now it is the wild west here and the marijuana doctors are the new version of the pill mills. Show up, pay you're $200 and you're golden. Repeat every 2-3 months.

How it is in other places I can't say.

We did receive a statement from Charlotte's web cbd oil company (the brand I used) stating a positive thc is possible in rare cases! And on top of that, the doctor I go to sells cbd out of the supplement shop they have there in their office! My husband brought this to their attention, but still it was sorry!

Do you all really believe CBD oil is this miracle drug that does wonders......... my Dr told me legalizing CBD was opening a can of worms and that there is not enough research or information to make a educated decision, the only people making out on this are the Dr's that prescribe it and the states that tax it to death.

Becky...... do you really think the answer is contacting an attorney, Myjade lost her pain medications and you think any attorney cares.... not in the least or as long as someone has deep pockets and maybe she will win and then the attorney will get 40%, she lost her pain management and has  got to distraught.

Remember what ever medicine you take it has it drawbacks and you need to see if the good outweighs the bad.

Ed, Here's what I was thinking: The last thing that the sellers of CBD oil want is for their product to be tainted by a breath of scandal.  THC is not an accepted drug in this country, or pot would be legal. So, some people would refuse to try it because it has drugs in it. Others take prescribed pain meds, like Jade, and would be afraid to try it because they would be afraid that the same would happen to them.  Then, there are those who, like me, worked where they were subject to random drug screens. Additionally, if you were in a traffic accident of any kind during work hours, you had to be drug-tested. If you tested positive for anything illicit, you would be immediately dismissed. So, the sellers of CBD oil potentially stand to lose some profit if word of Jade's experience leaks out.  Also,I'M NOT AN ATTORNEY, BUT Jade's case sounds like a slam-dunk to me: Is there a warning anywhere on the bottle or packaging letting users know that this can happen? No, there isn't. In fact, they state that it's legal because it contains no THC, which is false advertising. In short, I think that she can get a nice hunk of change. And,it's a good way of letting others know of this risk. I'm not for CBD oil, or against it, but I hate it when a company takes ad- vantage of people this way,and gets rich at the expense of others.   Becky

Well I for one think is a gimmick, I have asked my Dr's and they all have given me the same answer.......It wont work, have there been any clinical studies and i'm not saying from the CBD makers or long term studies, the government made it legal because they stand to make a lot of tax revenue and they are not responsible if it is found not do anything or make the situation worse, same as tobacco we know it helps cause cancer but the government still makes it legal as long as they can make the Billions from taxing it.

Cannabis extracts have been studied for years and not just by those with vested interests. Although the study of use for pain management is relatively recent. Remember full randomised clinical trials have been restricted by the legal status of the compounds.  but use for managing cancer/chemotherapy and HIV/AIDS complications is recognised, and one of the major factors in various jurisdictions legalising it for medical use.

Ed it sounds like your Dr is a skeptic, not that that's a bad thing, but there are lots of published studies e.g. start here https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2503660/ and also look at the related articles.

My Dr was no skeptic hell I had his home phone number and was told to call any time with any medical problems, questions or concerns I may have.... but sadly he passed away in Feb of this year due to compilations of double knee replacement. He said there are two major problems with Marijuana and the CBD oil sector.

1. Not enough clinical studies and by that he said we have 40-50 years worth of clinical studies done on smoking, alcohol consumption but on CBD oil nothing even close to the previous studies besides if Cigarettes really increase the chances of cancer then why does the government continue allowing them to be produced or sold to the public...... that's easy MONEY, the government makes more per pack sold than the tobacco co do.

2. Unregulated  or inconsistent supply of Marijuana / CBD oil and by that he told me its a plant and how do you know the purity or strength  from one crop to another or from different growers or fertilizers or year to year, he told me the state has opened a can of worms and has no idea how to police it, Alcohol on the other hand has the same proof or alcohol % from one bottle to another or one month to another and it is tested, these farmers growing weed just plant it and harvest it asap so they can make the most money, and what about Marijuana from Mexico or dozens of other countries is it tested  for purity or strength or filler to make there load bigger or heavier .... the answer is no. Can you show me proof of positive results or reference studies done to show there results ???????????????

He told me plain and simple there is not enough information to make an educated decision either way, and that will take as Dr Smith said it bluntly decades and the states only care about one thing generating tax revenue because there broke and need the revenue for there pet projects.

Hey if you want to smoke pot, use CBD products or other remedies by all means be my guest........... but don't consider contacting an attorney and suing if you get tested and you loose your prescription for pain killers or what ever you are taking to make yourself better or in other words do your due diligence and know what your putting into your body and that it is safe.

My Nero specialist told be point blank CBD oil will raise your blood pressure at first and may go back to normal after about 30 min but warned me there is a possibility of another stroke, what if I did use the CBD oil and that happened and the CBD manufacture stated that has never happened and we get into a lawsuit, a lot of good that will do me if i'm in the hospital or worse I cant walk or get dressed by myself or hundreds of other things I take for granted, I don't know about you but i'm not risking it period.

You only go around once, you don't get time outs, do overs or mulligans so my advise is be happy and as healthy as possible, Its a beautiful world, stop burning daylight and enjoy it because we don't live forever.

Now I need a cigarette or a cold one after all this thinking .........I'm beat  just wanted to let you know that was a joke a six pack will last me a year.

Allen, your a musician......... " Why do you think they call it dope "

On another subject my new Dr has taken me off 10 mg of liptor once nightly as he explained it has side effects, he told me he has seen studies where a patient may have dizzy spells and muscle aces.

I'm happy to report my muscle aces in my left leg are much more manageable after only 10 days, if I had to rate it on a scale of 1-10 and it bothered me being at a 7-8 its at a 2-3 now and the dizziness is responding just slower but he said it will take your body around 2-3 weeks before it is out of your system, he said my cholesterol is low taking Liptor, he checked my HDL is at 41 and LDL is at 74 so its weighing the pros and cons and I like the results so far.

Just do you research on all drugs taken.

I am speechless no one has any comments , opinions or knowledge on CBD products  ????????????

On another note today is day 16 of me not taking Liptor and I cant believe how much better I am feeling my new Dr was spot on, I find I still get tired quickly  and  don't have the stamina like I once did but have found that what would have taken me the rest of the day along with the next day to recover now takes several hour or so and im ready for the next day , anyone that gets wiped out after 10-20 minutes or they have no  stamina need to check with there Dr

I will see mine in a few weeks and cant wait to tell him my progress

In a nutshell pills legal or not all have downsides so do your homework

Good luck everyone

Hi Ed glad to hear getting off the statin is working for you. They have a bad reputation. But as you said drugs are very personal and what works one doesn't work for another. It's always a weighing up of benefits and "costs"

Thanks

Yes I am feeling better being off Liptor now but I still get a kick out of the medical marijuana or cbd oil, my Dr's have said to stay clear and I have yet to see any clinical studies that prove cbd helps people out but states keep legalizing it but don't have a clue to what there doing, I think this will turn into a can of worms and the patients are going to pay for this mess one way or the other.

Do your due diligence and read and ask your Dr before you decide using cbd products,  I do not want to go thru another stroke ever again

Well I met with my new Dr on 9-14-18 and I asked him point blank what are his thoughts and experiences on Marijuana / CBD oil and a person recovering from a stroke and he confirmed what my last three Dr's have told me all along, very little research has been done and yes it might / will raise my BP at first and that is not what I want to hear after having a stroke, FYI my B/P was 116/78 so why do I want to risk it, I am lucky I only take 2 prescriptions and can do most everything and i'm trying to be healthy and enjoy the rest of my new so called life.

Good luck everyone

Ed

I found hemp oil on amazon, way cheaper than cod and seems to have the same pain relief effect.
