Insurance Denied a test

Recommended Posts

I know this is not a medication question so I hope it's ok to ask here.  I was in the ER and the DR ordered a blood test based on my history of stroke. The insurance company is refusing to pay it, calling it an experimental test.  Any suggestions. Neither party will contact the other to try to sort this out. The insurance company suggests the hospital resubmit because it could be a coding error but the hospital refuses. I am not convinced it is a coding error.

Nothing worse than a bean counter making a decision on your health and well being while trying to save a buck.

Good luck

Mark, No suggestions, I'm sorry, just commiseration, as most of us have had insurance woes at one time or another. Unfortunately, it comes with the territory. Good luck, Becky

I have driven down this road for my spinal stimulus stuff and various meds....trick is to call your doc and the doc finds out what wording to do the pre auth. It can take time. Years for me for the stim months for meds.

So persevere.

Keep hope.

Keep squeeeeeeking the squeeky wheel.
