jriva
. I don't know how parents have the nerve to let their kids learn to skateboard---it's got to be scary to watch them practice---but to watch your wheelchair bound son learn to skateboard with his chair has got to be extra scary. Watch a video of Aaron Fatheringham do a 180 degree turn in a wheelchair---both his first try and him actually doing it six months later: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=365428848488850151 Watch him doing a back flip here: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=69...644&q=Back+flip For an interview of this 14 years old wheelchair skateboarder check out this link: http://www.newdisability.com/interviewaaron.htm No, I'm not going to sign Don up for wheelchair skateboarding classes but I know it inspires him to try more things when I show him stuff like this. jriva
I can't even image how scary that would be to attempt a wheelchair skateboarding trick for the first time!!! Although the day that my husband went wheelchair deer hunting, there were some dare-devil types there who I can picture doing these things. I saw more than one guy pop a few wheelies at the party afterwards. Jean

jwatrous
Jean - This video, esp, the backflip took my breath away, and no amount of motivation would be needed to do this June
azrabbit
If you click on the link in the article, there is a longer video. It made me have tears at the end when it shows him helping a little kid learn how to do tricks!
jriva
Here's some more wheelchair skateboarding. This video has some stunts in it that will blow your mind. Be prepared, though, to see him do some really nasty falls in the beginning. I'd hate to pay to keep this kid in wheelchair parts and service. That could really add up quick! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PtrGC53X_2s
arogers
When my boys were in their teens doing the BMX bike and skateboard thing I thought I should have some life insurance for them. My youngest tried to replicate a "jump" over a link fence using his brand new BMX bike and ended up with a broken collar bone........This boy's mother must be taking some really good meds!!! (just kidding  ) Kids on skateboards are constantly replacing the wheels and trucks to get more speed and maneuverability to the tune of $50 to $100 - can you imagine what this young daredevil is asking for??? Crazy stuff, but it shows the power of the human spirit. He's sure not "disabled", he's "superabled"!!
