About Me

I suffered an ischaemic stroke, due to blockage in the right vertebral artery, on September 7, 2009 (Labor Day), at the age of 44. The vasular surgeon said the stroke was due to the combination of smoking & birth control (read the warnings) ~ both of which have been discontinued. I spent the first five days in the local hospital (one night in ICU) and another week in intensive rehab therapy. I came home without a wheelchair, walker or cane.

On a good day, I understand fully just how blessed I am. I am alive. I am fully functional for all intents and purposes, though I still suffer from vestibular issues...and the right side of my face is still numb.

I know how lucky I am ~ but it does not change the fact that I grieve for the woman I was and the life I had pre-stroke.

Farrell, thank you for welcoming me to the board!
I am terribly sorry for your loss of Amy, I can only imagine the heartache you must deal with. It's just not fair and she was so young!
    God Bless you!
I tried to send you a message, but the system wouldn't allow it, do you know why?
