    post-stroke pain

I had my strokes in January 2011. My main issue was/is right arm shoulder weakness. I had very significant pain that actually increased after I went back to work. I went back to therapy and they did some estim and ordered a TENS unit. I used that daily til about 2 weeks ago. Don't take the narcs anymore unless it's been a very active day. Motrin is enough. Still take Lyrica at night. My shoulder is still weak, I cannot lift it on my own but use my other arm to move it and have pulleys to stretch it.

    11-11-11 VETERANS DAY

Thanks to both of you and anyone else who is a vet. I have worked for the Department of Veterans Affairs for 26 years. I work at the local VA hospital. Vets are unique in their needs and who they are. They deserve everything we can give and then some. I am a nurse and have proudly taken care of our vets one way or another. The staff we have feel the same way. We care about the vets, not the politics surrounding us. We do what we need to to get the job done. Freedom is not free! Roseann
  10. God does not make things happen but he does allow things to happen to us in order to bring us closer to Him, to make us rely on Him totally. Please don't give up. God is still with you. He will carry you if you allow Him. Try to give all your issues over to Him to deal with. You only. Need to listen and follow His voice. My prayers are with you. Roseann
  11. Beautifully written. Thank you so much for sharing this. God has been in my life for a long time now. First, almost 13 years ago when my husband was diagnosed with acute leukemia. Then He was with me through all the trials in the intervening years. He definitely was with me when I stroked in January 2011. Without Him I am nothing, but with Him I am at peace and can face anything. That doesn't mean it is easy. It means I know God is in control of my life, I just need to slow down and listen to His voice. Prayers for all our service men and women this day and all days. Amen.
  12. hi: I am 49 also and had my stroke at the end of March--I know exactly how you feel about not fitting in, faking it, etc. I think I could go back to work but I dont know me anymore-it is so weird. Thanks for your posting on the newbie forum--it helps to know I am not the only one who is feeling this way
