About Me

i am an 8 almost 9 yr. survivorhttp://www.strokeboard.net/public/style_emoticons/default/Clap-Hands.gif
hi i am mary lynn but prefer using the name lynn (mlp). i am married to my caregiver for almost 40 yrs. we have three sons and two adorable grandaughters abby 4 and maddie almost 2. i survived my ischemic right side stroke with full left side paralysis.i am an optimistic person but it is often a challenge.when i was asked in the hospital what i wanted most (others said go back tp work;drive right away)i answered go to the bathroom by myself.!i am on disability retirement after working for an endodontist (root canal only dentist) for 13 yrs. i loved my job and still keep in contact.i sometimes get discouraged with my recovery but my sisters,my best friends and cheerleaders http://www.strokeboard.net/public/style_emoticons/default/cheer.gifremind me how i had to be belted to a chair to eat meals at a table and be carried to the bathroom. thankfully that is no longer the case. i have no use of my left hand but with the use of the walkaide(afo caused bone bruising on my foot) i can walk with the use of a cane and can also drive. i, too, was told i would never walk again, but slow and steady, a little shakey , got it done, although the walking is not very smooth at least i'm upright..i lovethe grand kids, football, flowers, hidden object computer games and unfortunately for you, rambling on.http://www.strokeboard.net/public/style_emoticons/default/blahblah1.gif   i don't look forward to the winter, short days ,  afraid of falling and i don't like having the high of the day being 25degrees. but the sun is shining and the wood stove is going.http://www.strokeboard.net/public/style_emoticons/default/thumbsu.gifhappy to find other survivors and hope to learn how they make their lives a little easier with ideas. i love to laugh and that's often at myself.thanks for looking blessings mlp
