Getting Sick w stroke

I did not get my flu shot this year.... The first time in many years. I'm not sure if it would have helped this ... I have an ear infection. So I have been somewhat down a few days. My balance is off as it feels like someone has stuck something quite large in my ear. I am on antibiotics.. it is starting to get a little better. I can't hear right and am not sure how loud I am talking lol.. so John keeps saying what and I keep saying what? I think yesterday was the worst day.. I did take

Setting Realistic Goals

Well, I guess I am getting closer to seetting realistic goals for myslef.. LOL I have always tried to cram to many projects into one day ( even pre-stroke)   I am now a "slow" starter... and takes a bit to get motiviated, and to wake up in the morning. I used to be one to hit the floor running.. ha ha.   Now I have decided if I get more than a couple things accomplished in one day I have done REALLY WELL.   I have been grumbing and procrastinating about my closet. I started out

Grandson

My grandson, Bill is 13.. he'll be 14 in April. In health class they had to pick a topic to write a report. Bill has picked "strokes". He has been going on the internet to download some information.   Today I went to my husbands copy store. I went to our "Home page" here and printed out Stroke awarness and articles on the color printer for him to use.   I am proud that he has picked this topic, bringing stroke awareness ...   When we go out, Bill is protective and watches out for

Tony the tiger

I woke up this morning feeling really good. I had to go in to town, so I jumped in the shower and as i was getting ready, I realized I feel GREEEEAAAT ****** Tony the Tiger Grreat!   As i was driving to work I was thinking about this and the reasons:   #1 John just had his 2 yr check up from the melanoma surgery and he can now go from 3 month check-ups to 6 months..   #2 John hired a Bookkeeper.... a REAL one. Not just someone to enter data, but someone who does BOOKKE

Good News

Thanks for the replies and condolences for Uncle Bob, the family is doing well.   Today John (my husband) had his regular check up from his melanoma surgery (2 yrs ago) He now only has to go every 6 months for checkups instead of every 3  We go to the Veteran's Clinic and Hospital for his health care. It is about 100 miles south one way. We had good weather today, only a little fog about 1/2 way there for a short distance. We stop for lunch on our way home, and enjoy the extr

Sad News Today

About a year ago I asked for prayers and warm thoughts for John's Uncle Bob, he was having health issues and had to go in for surgery for blocked arteries. At that time they found a mal formed artery and corrected it, he had undergone treatment for prostate cancer also. He has been doing well. He is married to my mother in laws sister. They are all very close. Uncle Bob and Aunt Donni have been together 58 years.. Bob had picked up a light and was going to install it ... Aunt Donni took

So now we will have mud.. lol....   It is supposed to be in the high 30's and low 40's most of the week.    I guess I "whined" :whine: enough yesterday ....... The sun made me feel GOOD.   we had eagles in our yard today. John got some pictures of the young one. The older ones were in the back but flew off if he walked that way. We found

January is more than half over.

Wow .. I'm not sure if it's me..... or??? Seems like the last month has gone by so quickly.   We had a very nice Christmas.. I have downsized a great deal from what I used to do. It has mad it much easier and less stressful. My daughter came and helped me with decorations and shopping.   John has been fighting a heel supr and plantar fascitis for several months. He goes to the VA for medical care.. right now we are waiting for orthotics to be made. The podiatrist recommended a "brand

Glad yesterday is over.

I am usually pretty laid back, happy. Not sure what happened.. think it started Tuesday afternoon... just kind of "crummy" mood. Everything irritated me.... I did keep my mouth shut and tried not to take it out on anyone..I think the dogs knew, because every time I sat down they were there for a snuggle or pet.   I had to go into town and pick up my prescriptions, snow was in the forecast so I got up and went into town with John and thought I would try to do a little in his business. I end

Getting there.........

The last few months have been busy...   All our dogs are a bit chubby, but Mindy my Aussie/border collie was getting quite big and lethargic... we took her to the vet and she has low thyroid.. so now she is on a thyroid pill 2 times a day. I have been good about remembering to give them to her. I have her little pill bottle where I can see it every morning.   We changed their food to a low calorie and I am trying to get "dad" to cut down on the treats.... Muggsy one of min pin's is a "

Cold anf flu Season

Well I mad it through Thanksgiving without getting sick.. I have pretty much finished my Christmas Shopping.... Friday I started coming down with a "cold" I am trying to keep it under control. As you all know, we are limited to what we can take to alleviate the symptoms. My head feels like it's the size of a LARGE pumpkin and just as full....   Well we have had quite the weather, with record rain in November, followed by over 10 inches of snow and then wind storms. South of us got the

Another week down.

Well Monday morning I started out a bit sad thinking of past christmases and all the decorating, etc.   I decided to drag out some decorations and start. My daughter showed up unexpectedly in the middle of me dragging boxes. :Clap-Hands:  So she strung the lights around the family room and within in a few hours it was looking pretty festive.   We decided to go Christmas shopping Wednesday.. I do some shopping on my own, but really didn't wan to go in larger stores with crow

Just rambling

When I got up this morning I was feeling a bit melancholy.. maybe remembering Christmas's past and the decorating, etc.   Well about 11 am my daughter and son in law stopped by unexpectedly. He was on his way to his mom's house to help her, my daughter stayed here. We got decorations up and it is quite cheerful and cozy.... It went up fast with me handing her items and fun working on it together like when she lived at home.   The wind picked up 25 mph with gusts 35 to 50

Hermit

Well I have been a "hermit" this week. I have not really wanted to venture out. I am not sure if it is because of my fall last Saturday. The snow and ice is all gone, it has been in te low to mid 40's. We are supposed to get rain today.   I do have to go to town today........... The soreness from fallin is pretty well gone. I have caught up on a few household chores this week at home. I know my trepidition is un founded. I guess because I have had several falls this year outsdie. I

Catching Up

Well looks like my last blog was in October... Iam an on and off blogger...lol   Well our employee Laurie is back to work.... this is double edged. It means her dad has passed on, but then again his suffering has ended. Lauried said Hospice has been coming and the whole family was with him and he had a peaceful end. We are HAPPY to have her back and she is also glad to be back.   I have had time at home... I am going in a few hours a week, just enough not to become a hermit..lol

SOOO Tired

I am soo tired.. Guess I have also had a "reality check" I had been thinking maybe I could work some.. part time.   Well John's main employee Laurie is off on "family leave" It was quite sudden. Her step dad (who raised her) had cancer a few years ago, he is also a stroke survivor. He suddenly became ill again. The cancer has returned and has spread. Laurie has taken time off to take care of her dad, her sister flew out and is there also so they are able to take turns sleeping and acring

Getting the Guest Room ready

:Clap-Hands: Well the Guest room (my craft room) Is ready ... John had to go to Seattle yesterday to pick up some equipment. If I ride with him he can use the express lane on the freeway. It is for 2 or more people in a vehicle. We also have a good time chatting and we stop for brunch. So it is a nice day out together. It is a 2 hour drive each way.   We stopped at the BIG mall down there. He said lets go to Sear's he was looking for a part.. so I headed off to the Bath and Bedding dep

Dusting Off The Cob Webs

Well it has been a long time since i have blogged. I read so many interesting entries.... I am Happy for my life and the things I can do, but mostly seems pretty routine and not that interesting to write about.   This summer has been busy and my fatigue level is improved.. Not great yet but I think the key is I am learning I can no longer go at 90 mph with 6 hrs of sleep. I am learning to prioritize my energy and to take a break when I begin to get tired. I am learning I CAN"T do it all..

Hello

I don't blog very often.. I guess I just don't have a lot to say.. I do come here for support on bad days or times.   I could grumble about the county making us plant 800 trees .. we unfortunately thought we were doing something good for our property but was a NO NO.. there was a swampy area in front.. just blue clay guck and water ... you could sink up to your knees. nothing would really grow except black berry bushes and skunk cabbage.. very beautiful to look at (not) so we cleaned it ou

Happy Day

What a Great Day, I went to a retirement part for a very good friend I used to work with. It was at the Medical Center where I worked pre-stroke. I was a little nervous going... I have stopped by there a few times.   Today I knew I would see alot of people. I had such a warm welcome, and everyone was so nice. I enjoyed the party for my friend and got to see wonderful people I worked with. I almost felt like the party was for me too.   One of the patients I used to take care of was in th
