Teddy getting fat

:yikes: It appears, Theodore has had a couple of meals too many, or in Spanish, Teddy es un perro gordo. This is not going to be easy. He sure can look pitiful when he wants something. He will sit down in front of me and give me 'that look'. He can make you feel like a monster. But it is for his own good. Otherwise, he is doing terrific as usual, although he can sure act stuck up to other people. He has learned to recognize Aunt Kim's car and when he sees it on his morning walk when he finishe

Tropical heat wave?

:pepper: The weather has turned a tad warmer, :tumbleweed: it got up into the lower 50's today! The sunshine was warm so I was able to take Theodore out with just a :tshirt:. There was a bit of a chill in the shade and when you got into the wind. I recall back in the day when sensable Texan's would break out the parka if it was in the 50's. It has started to get colder pretty fast after the sun went down, now it's 36. :cold: Anne dropped of some cd's she has so I can figure out all of the s

Hace muy frio. y Teddy 'blows out'

HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL! On Tuesday we had a blue norther come through (Texan for arctic cold front). :cold: It went from a high of about 70 on Tuesday to the 20's on Wednesday with about 3 inches of snow. Poor Teddy had to have his Aunties walk him on Wednesday, It was just too dangerous for me. His Auntie Nora told me played in the snow, normally he doesn't like to play in the snow. He doesn't like cold weather. Although he never played in the snow before he also never tried to hump my arm

getting better

:i_did_it!: It has been a while since I have written in my blog because there has been a lot going on that has been very emotionally draining. Trying to accept that my parents (especially my father), verbally and emotionally abused me has not been easy. I did find a similar site to this, but it is not nearly as good. They did confirm the abuse though. I did learn more about abuse, and the abuser. My father does fit the description. He is trying to lure me back into the abusive relationship, but

Down day

Today has not been a good day. I am very emotionally down. How can I forgive my family for their cruelty and downright hostility. I have not phoned my parents since early August. They have sent me a few e-mails, but I don't bother answering them anymore. If I call my parents I know they will start in on me again. I cannot just take their attitude. I may very well go off on them. I have tried logic, and they give me excuses. All they want to talk about is 'my problems'. Anyone that dares attempt

Annual leaf mass suicide in Denver

Denver: This past weekend was the peak of the annual mass suicide of leaves. After several days of cooler weather and a gusty north wind. Thousands of leaves lept to their death off trees all over the city. AP But seriously, Teddy went out for his late morning walk today and found a chicken bone. He refused to let me take it from him. He ended up coming back to our room. He ate a small piece, but I managed to take some of it away before he could eat it all. He did attack my reacher when I to

I do beleve in spooks

It really wasn't aware until recently that I realized I had a sixth sense. I have never physically seen a ghost, but I have had some very unusual sensations. What really convinced me was a few years ago when I was leaving work I had a sensation that I would get into an accident. Several weeks later I did have a wreck leaving the parking lot. I wasn't hurt but Teddy was with me. Another time, my brother bought a house south of Denver. It was a very nice house, but I always had a sense of somethin

A very eccentric people

I think the British are best known for bad teeth, bad cooking, eccentric people with a very strange sense of humour (little Brit spelling) . They are indeed very eccentric. They have an early evening show sorta like "Today". They have profiled some very British people. One man who is a forest ranger. He claimed that at night many of the trees would move around from place to place. There was also an elderly, woman I think in here late 80's. She lived in a very old stone cottage and it was going t

Halloween stuff

As Halloween approaches I thought I would share some thoughts on this subject. My first overseas assignment was at RAF Chicksands in Bedfordshire England. About 50 miles north of London. RAF Chicksands was a very old Priory first built in the 12th century. It is rumored to have been built over the ruins of an Ancient Roman temple. The Priory remained active until The rein of Henry VIII when he had it confiscated and turned it over to one of his Nobles. Eventually it became the property of the

Teddy eating dog food again

:happydance: Teddy finally gave in and ate his dog food today. He is back to his old self again. He is a little reluctant to get off the bed though. He isn't even going to the dining room door begging anymore. Speaking of begging. The place I am living held Trick or Treat for the kids this afternoon. Teddy would have been a natural at it, although I would never dress him up. He is far too macho for that. Also he is so protective I don't think he would care too much for people knocking on the doo

el perro veijo o gordo

I am not sure, but Teddy is either getting too old or fat. He is having problems getting off the bed. Looks like I am going to have to get him some doggie steps. He is also mad at me. I haven't let him have any table food, so he is not happy. He hasn't eaten any of his dog food, but when he gets hungry enough I guess he isn't going to have much choice. He looked like he didn't feel very good this morning when I took him out. He just sat down at first then he laid down in the grass. That rea

Teddy is getting better

:Clap-Hands: Teddy is doing much better today. He didn't have any table food, he did eat a little dog food and a couple of dog treats. He is pretty much back to normal. He sure looked pitiful yesterday. When I did take him out late yesterday, he ended up laying in the grass. He did not want to get into the bed last night. I had to pick him up and put him in the bed. He did not like that, but at least he didn't get mad, although he wanted to. All of his Aunties agreed not to give him table food a

Teddy gets sick

Me and Teddy's aunts have been very worried about Teddy. Yesterday he got sick. He woke up very early in the morning and jumped down from the bed and went under the table. When I woke up he was throwing up under the table. He throws up occasionally, but this was different. He was very lethargic and started choking. I took him outside, but at one point he just laid down in the grass. He was ready to go inside but didn't seem interested in going to the med room to see Aunt Kim and Aunt Nora. He di

Typical Colorado snowstorm

Like most snowstorms here it snows like crazy for one day, then the next day the sun comes out it warms up and a lot of the snow melts. It was very difficult this morning very cold and very icy conditions. Aunt Kim had to take Teddy on his morning walk. He slipped and slid and didn't stay out very long but was happy to get back in. I took him out after lunch, it was still fairly cold and there was some icy spots. I almost got stuck in the ice once, but managed to get out. Aunt Nora gave Teddy so

Listen the snow is falling

We had our first snowfall of the season today. It snowed about 5 inches. Yesterday it was 80 degrees. I took Theodore out early before it started coming down. It came down pretty good too. I took Teddy out again just after lunch. The snow had pretty much stopped, but the sidewalks were still slushy and snow was falling from the trees. Fortunately, he had mercy on me and didn't want to down the snow covered sidewalkwalks. Although I did get the wheels changed on my chair, I was still a bit worrie

an unerving conclusion

After reading responses from my last entry, and a lot of soul searching I have come to the really unbelievable conclusion that I have been verbally abused by my parents for a very long time. What is worse is that it had happened quite often. One of my early memories is when I was in jr high or so. My father took me to my Uncle's farm where he was picking cotton (by machine of course), I was trying to light a cigarette on a windy day and caught the trailer on fire. I was frighted but took respons

Teddy has to rough it

Poor ole Theodore doesn't have his Aunties Kim and Nora so he doesn't get his normal treats. :yikes: He had to actually eat dog food. :furious: He ate it, for the first time in "heep many moons". He will get over it. Today the sun is out and it is almost 70 degrees. It is still a bit windy, but by Sunday it will be a very good chance of snow with a high only in the 40's. :cold:

Approved for therapy

Recently a Therapy program was set up here, I do not know if it is both PT and OT, but I am eligible for therapy. Although I got to get to know most of the therapists at the VA, I won't have to take the bus. That is a bit of a hassle, $12. per trip and of course the occasional unscheduled tour of the city. Anyway my old PT and good friend Patrick, no longer works at the VA. I will most likely work on my own anyway. I am getting sick of this damn chair, although I have learned to move pretty fast

Back to the VA again

This morning I had my latest appointment at the VA. I overslept and just made it the bus showed up before I was ready, the driver was not amused. That's life in the fast lane. I got to my appointment right on time, but the Orthotists were very busy, one of them called in sick. :yadayada: I only had to wait about an hour, but that wasn't too bad. He took me back to a room where I was given a very fasionable pair of paper boxer shorts. I felt like I was ready for the catwalk in Russia (remember

Anne visits me and Teddy

:Clap-Hands: Yesterday Anne came to visit us. We had not seen her in quite a while. She had taken a cruise to Alaska, then got sick. Teddy and I were both very happy to see her and she had time to stay a little longer than usual. We are both going through personal problems. Me with my family, and she is going through a divorce after 20 years of marrage. and her son got his girlfriend pregnant. We ended up having a lengthy conversation. I usually listen to her problems but this time I talked ab

Tomorrow death of John Denver 10th annyversary

Ten years ago John Denver died. That was very sad. I recall watching his funeral on TV the church wasn't too far from my house in Aurora. Also, I have posted the pictures I took of the Queen and Pope John Paul II.

Teddy gets Blessed

The receptionist here (Teddy's Aunt Avis) went to California last week to see her daughter. While there she visited her granddaughter's pre-school, on St Francis Day (I'm not Catholic so I don't know what day it was) a Priest came in to bless the pets of people. Avis was kind enough to include Teddy. He even got a certificate (actually sometimes I think he might need an exorcism) :Ask: I recall when I went to Vatican City on Palm Sunday the Pope (John Paul II) blessed the crowd, I said a pray

My sabbatical

Since my stroke things have definitely slowed down. Actually I try to look at it as just a sabbatical, away from the daily hustle and bustle to reflect more on me and the world around me. I do notice things I have always never took the time to see. For example, the sex of a squirrel or the sounds they make, how they make nests in trees and their mating habits. Also, how the seasons change, and watching the grass grow. I have finish several projects I never could find time for. I have organiz

Terrified puppy

About 9:30 this morning I heard a big ruckus outside with all the neighborhood dogs, including Teddy. I looked out the patio door and there was a poor Chihuahua puppy lost and very scared, especially with all these dogs barking at him. Luckily, all of the dogs were behind fences, but he kept running around looking for help. I could not do anything because there isn't a sidewalk I could use to rescue him. At one point he tried to stand on his hind legs and get into my patio. Teddy was out on the

Teddy's first road trip

Teddy has always enjoyed riding in the car, what dog doesn't. Anyway in late May 1999 I took him to Arkansas. It was about 1,000 miles each way. It really didn't start out very good. We had just gotten a few miles outside Denver on I-70 Teddy got car sick and threw up :puke: He soon recovered and had no more problems. He refused to sit in the back seat so he rode in the front with me. Most of the time he would sleep, but he would occasionally want to come over by me and even try to look out m
