Paperwork

I finally got the paperwork from Dr. FeelGood's office today. It came this morning just after 9:00am. I decided to call them a little after 9. I spoke to the secretary for Dr. FeelGood. I told her that his nurse told me that I would get the information faxed to me today.   I give her the fax number and waited. Sure enough the fax machine rings and starts printing out the pages I was so eagerly awaiting. I look at the fax cover sheet. 11 Pages is what I see. I am beside myself with exc

Well, now what happens???

Well I heard from Dr. FeelGood's office at the Cleveland Clinic today. They told me the results of the labs and tests they performed on me.   They did two tests, a second doppler on the carotids, and a transcranial doppler test. Both of those turned out normal. They did a lipid panel (cholesterol was normal, triglycerides were high) and the ultra sensitive c-reactive protein test was high. I am still suffering from a sinus infection so that maybe a false positive.   Prior to this, they did

Kids

It was great to see my daughter this weekend. Liz and I took her to Sam's Club to buy her supplies. This was done as a purely defensive measure. That kept her from "Shopping at Dad's".   We got there at the insane hour of 9:00am. Most days, Sam's has what they call Business Hours where they are open for those who are lucky enough to have Business Memberships. Today was not that day.   What it did do was give us some time together without the hustle and bustle that normally comes with

Taxes

Somehow, I got conned into doing my daughter's taxes. I am still trying to figure out how this happened.   The neat thing is hers was very simple compared to mine and Liz's. I already had the software to do the Federal and State of Michigan. However, she did a fool thing like move to Pennsylvania. So I had to go to the State of Pennsylvania web site and download the PA State Form and do it the "old fashioned way".   If she had to choose a state to move to that has income taxes, Pennsyl

Revenge maybe.....

There was something interesting in the mail today.   It was a letter from the Cleveland Clinic Foundation. They want to learn about my experience at their outpatient clinic and use it to help them improve their services.   As you may recall, our super hero was not that impressed with the Cleveland Clinic (especially after Dr. FeelGood did not send a copy of his report to my neurologist who I specifically requested).     If you get the idea from the emotions above that I plan to

Be careful what you ask for!!!!!!!

Good morning all.   As some of you are aware, I decided to go to the Cleveland Clinic. I had gathered up all of the doctor notes and records anc copies of the various X-Rays, MRI, MRA, and CT-Scans I have received since November 2004.   The doctor I went to at Cleveland Clinic looked over all of my records, looked over the various films, and said the following, "You did NOT have a stroke. You had a migraine headache."   I did some looking online for headaches and found there is a very

Scooters

Whenever you have visited one of these big box stores (Lowes, WalMart, etc.), you have seen scooters going about 1/2 mile per hour down the aisles. They are driven (usually) by the elderly. Well, today I had the honor of driving one of those scooters.   There wasn't too much carnage in my wake. You know, merchandise strewn here and there and there weren't too many people laid out from being hit (Imagine hearing over the PA system, "Ambulance to Aisle 4!") by one of these counfounded things

Yesterday was Doctor and Lab day

Yesterday was an interesting day. I woke up with my left eye (and only my left eye) was very dry. I put in eye drops and it seemed to work for awhile. I guess I will need to keep a bottle of the artificial tesrs with me at all times.   I started the day by going to the local vampire shop (outpatient lab facility) and getting bloodwork done to check my INR as requested by my neuro.   In other news, our valiant super hero (yeah, right) was working in the office Monday night. He had a cab

What do you do when your brain is swiss cheese

I have really had problems with remembering things since the TIA on 1/28. I was out tracking down medical paperwork for my trip to Cleveland next week and my wife called me on the cell phone.   She told me that I had a follow up endochronologist appointment tomorrow afternoon. I normally would have known that but I didn't.   I had also gotten appointments mixed up. I thought there was an appointment February 10th at 10:00am. It was actually scheduled for February 15th at 10:00am.

Whew!! Glad that is over or Happy Groundhog Day..

As you all probably read in my dw southernlady's blog, she was diagnosed as having a "Frozen Shoulder". She appears to be doing better after a cortizone shot. There will be Physical Therapy in her future. Life is looking up on that front.   I came home yesterday and found a phone message from my company's Disability Management person. She told me the 'expected me to return to work this week'. She also said she had talked with my supervisor.   I decided to call my supervisor and se

I wish there were a magic pill

I wish there were a magic pill available.   I would like this magic pill to be able to cure whatever you happen to have have. I wish my wife were able to take advantage of this magic pill so she would not be in such constant pain.   Now wait a minute . If she were pain free that would mean that her task would be your caregiver. That's not fair to her.   Now if I were to take this magic pill, i would be free of her ravages of stroke and my task would be as her caregiver. Now wait

Frustration

Frustration.   If there was one word that could be used to describe today, it was frustration. I tried to get hold of the Disability Management person in my company. What I actually got was her voice mail. I left her the happy news that I had another TIA and that I would be notifying my neurologist about this (It was late Friday afternoon when I was released from the Emergency Room and after 5:00pm when I got home).   I had wanted to get her email address and forward her the Larry King

I wonder.....

I had a pretty decent day today. We moved my wife's computer from one end of the house to the new office we had set up for the company. I didn't think I did that much but about 2:30pm, I had a real bad fatigue attack. These seem to come on suddenly. I can't really do anything when they hit.   Luckily, there are none of the symptoms normally associated with a TIA along witht he fatigue.   I think I can sum up how I feel in one sentence:   I am TIRED of being TIRED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I survived Saturday

I slept in today. Until about 4:30am. I don't know why I wake up that early but I do. I don't go to bed exceptionally early.   Today was errand day with my wife. We left about 8:45am to drive to Toledo. We were going to Sam's Club, Wal Mart, and Kroger for various items we had been putting off for awhile.   I got through Sam's with no problem. It was pretty much like any other Sam's Club.... Huge!!!!!!!!!   We got to Wal Mart. We had a list of what we needed to get. We got thos

TIA #4

I ended up in the Emergency Room this afternoon. My neuro's nurse called us to tell me he was increasing my dosage of coumadin. I was out running errands and my wife told her about the symptoms I had experienced Wednesday and Thursday.   She seemed a bit purturbed that I had not contacted them with my symptoms when they happened.   About 12:30pm, I started experiencing that familiar symptoms: numbness in the left side of my face, not being able to think clearly. So what did I do, I cal

Technology - Gotta love it

I awoke this morning at 3:30am Eastern Time. I don't know why but I thought I would get something useful done.   I don't know if I have told you all before but my wife and I are in the process of setting up a home based business. There are so many things to take care of that do not affect most normal people. Things like setting up our business so we can take credit cards, setting up business phone and internet services, getting business cards printed as needed, advertising, figuring out ho

Yesterday

I had another spell yesterday afternoon about 4:00pm. What I mean by spell is if the symptoms were worse, they would require Emergency Room attention. I more than likely did experience another TIA albeit minor.   It wasn't nearly as bad as the previous day (Wednesday) thank goodness. Also, Wednesday was primarily a fatigue attack with brain fog thrown in for good measure.   The symptoms I experienced yesterday afternoon were a slight numbness in my face, brain fog, and fatigue.   I n

I am a different person now

I am human again. You say how our super hero really had a tough time today. You also see how he perservered and finally beat back the fatigue attack he had earlier.   Let's see what tomorrow brings.   BRING IT ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   Have a good night.   Charles Ramsey

What a difference a couple of hours makes

I feel like I have been rode hard and hung up wet. Two hours ago, I had a severe fatigue attack.   Now, I think I will live.   This is the first time I have felt this way without having a TIA or stroke. I had the dizziness, extreme fatigue, slight case of brain fog, chest discomfort (I talked about that earlier). In other words, I wanted to do an imitation of the two cats that are on the love seat recliner with me right now.   You know, ZZZZZZzzzzzzzzz!!!!!!   I did sleep som

My mind is a vegetable right now

I am having a bad time now. Two hours ago, I was feeling fine.   About 12:30pm, I started experiencing discomfort in my chest. Thank goodness our super hero was wearing his heart monitor and recorded his heart. I called the nice folks at Life Watch, transmitted the recording over the phone, they interpreted the converted EKG, and told me that I did not go to the Emergency Room.   Ain't technology wonderful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   I am sitting here on the sofa with negative energy typ

Things that make you say Hmmmmm..

I received some interesting news yesterday. As you are aware from reading posts on the board as well as the previous entries in this Blog, Everything they have checked has been normal with the exception of High Blood Pressure which was corrected in early December. (Subsequent to that change, I had a TIA 1/11/05 where my blood pressure was normal.)   The news I received was regarding my stress test I took on January 20. Amazingly enough, the results were good.   We celebrated this news b

TIA #3

TIA#3 was experienced 1/11/05.   It had snowed the night before and I went out about 7:00am to clear the snow off the car. I was winded after this. This was not normal. After all, all I had done was clear the snow off of the car. I had not shoveled the entire drive and walk.   I came in, called my supervisor to tell him I was going to be late, and sat down and relaxed for about 30 minutes before I started driving to work. By the time I started to work, I felt better than I did before

Vacation is over BOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

2 1/2 weeks of vacation and holiday time is a wonderful thing. I must apologize but this ended up a little out of order. TIA #2 occurs between my Christmas Vacation and this entry. Details of this TIA were posted previously.   Back to the topic at hand. I did remember where my job was located. The date is now 1/10/05. I found my cubicle (just where I left it) and I found a 3 ring binder with a title of "Engineering Work Management Liason" on it. There was also a handwritten note statin

How I spent my Christmas Vacation

2 1/2 weeks of vacation and holiday time is a wonderful thing. It had given me and my wife the chance to go south to visit my dad who is recovering from lung cancer.   Heading south was a real adventure. If you remember, there was a major snow storm in the Midwest that was paralyzing that portion of the country. We are driving south on I-75. Normally, this is a pretty easy drive. Make that same drive when the amount of snow you see is increasing exponentionally as the hours tick away i

The Calm between the Storms II

Fast Forward to 1/7/05. This is my normally scheduled follow up appointment with my neurologist where he was to discuss the results of my TEE I had 12/16, pat me on the head and tell me to come back to see him in a few months.   Instead I tell him and show him (the nice folks in North Carolina were kind enough to copy all the information they had produced) about TIA#2 on New Years Eve.   He agrees that bring in New Years in the Emergency Room is not a preferred activity.   He decides t
