No time to think

Well life with a puppy is not dull that is for sure. Fudge is keep me busy every day, but she is learning. Her and Kahlua are always together. Fudge follows her "big sister" everywhere. Kahlua seems to like it most of the time, every now and then she wants a break from the puppy and we give it to her.   It helps to not have time to sit and think right now. I am having issues with my heart currently and have been wearing a monitor most of the month. Yesterday the doctor called

Saying Good-Bye and Hello

Well it has been a week that's for sure.   Brown Sugar (14 year old baby/dog) got to the point in his illness that it was time to say good-bye. He fought a good fight the last three years but he could not do it anymore. We put he down Wed morning, with the Vet's blessing.   Our other Baby/dog Kahlua (4 1/2 years old) was moping and we thought a puppy would help, so Sat we got one. Fudge is about 11 weeks old and is full of energy. She is keeping me busy as she is not yet housetrain

Starting HBOT again

Well I start HBOT again on Wed this week (tomorrow), I can't wait. :Clap-Hands: The HBOT helps a lot and I am hoping that this time it will help with my hand. I had the Botox and still use the Saebo brace. I am also now doing e-stim, so between all on them something should start to help I would hope. I know the HBOT helped with my brain fog, my balance and my arm when I did it last year. I did 40 treatments by going 5 times a week. Started in Oct and finished the beginning on Dec. This t

One Year

Well it was a year in Jan. that I had my stroke, Jan 3rd to be exact. Sometimes I get down thinking about the Me from before the stroke and the Me now. All the things I still can't do and maybe never will. When that happens I try to look at where I was right after the stroke and how far I have come in a year, that makes me feel a little better. I just keep trying and working at everything. If I look at last week and this week I don't see much change, but if I look at where I was last Feb a

The Good and The Bad

Well the Ortho Dr says the problem with my right knee is Osteoarthritis which is bad news. He is sending me for PT to strength the muscles around the knee for 4 weeks and sometime after the first of the year we will look at the injections of gel like stuff to help the knee some. Well my left leg will get some work out by default too, which is good.   On the Good new side the Cardio Dr has found a way to set my pacemaker so I can do e-stim. :Clap-Hands: Sometime before the first of the

Busy Time

I have three HBOT treatments left and then I am done with my 40 treatments it has helped some, so I would say it was worth the money. After the first of the year I plan on going back to HBOT for one Day a week for a few more months to see if we can get more from it. My PCP thinks the HBOT is helping, so do my therapists. Cardio and Nero say it's not hurting anything, so as long as I can find the money I am going to do it. :Clap-Hands:   Having trouble with my good knee now. 15+ years a

movement and hope

over the weekend I stared to see a very very very little movement in my left index finger with the help on the Botox it is over coming the tone a little. :happydance: The movement is so small that you would miss it if you were not watching for it, but it is there. That means the signal is getting through to the hand and the index finger, but the muscle is just too weak, so maybe the signal is getting through to the other fingers as well. It fills me with hope that one day I will use my hand

Computer Problems and good things

Well the last few weeks I have spent dealing with Computer problems. :throw: It seems that the anti-virus software we had was not working and we got a ton of viruses that shut us down. well after spending the better pat of three days on the phone with the techs from Dell in India and then loading Norton 360 we are up and running again virus free. We had to re install some of the software on the computer so I lost a lot of my settings so it going to take some time to get everything back to th

My sister noticed it during dinner. she was sitting across from me and said that as I was eating my face was moving more. so after dinner I tried smiling and my smile was more normal too. a lot more normal. There has been a big change in one week, after the 4 treatments, I can't wait to see the changes after 40 treatments. :bouncing_off_wall:

Ups and Downs

This has been a week of ups and downs. My Mother-in -law has been visiting for the past week so I have not been able to get on line much, she was staying in the room were the computer is. She has gone home now so the house is empty again, just me and the dogs all day, that can get very lonely at times, I enjoyed her company on this visit, :chat: I had some one to talk to during the day.   The Tone in my Hand is still very bad, to the point we are now have issues using the Saebo brace.

Apples and clothes

Well Labor Day weekend was busy and tiring for me. on Sunday we went Apple picking with my Sister, Brother-in-law, and 2 year old nephew Henry. :happydance: Who by the way loves apples and tractors. We rode on a wagon pulled by a tractor out to the place where we picked the apples and back, Henry just loved that. He had Apples in both hands taking a bite out of first one then the other. He was running up and down the rows of tree with apples in both hands laughing And smiling all day, we all

Better Week

Well I think we finally got the Saebo brace adjusted correctly now, it seems to be working better. I am able to hold the balls and release them it just takes a long time. Hopefully as my fingers relearn what to do it will get faster and easier. It just a lot harder it use than the web site makes it look. I use it every day and I do see a change in the tone in my hand so I guess it's helping. :Clap-Hands:     I ordered the Mirror Box too. If I can get the tone down with the brace mayb

Not so Great week

Well the weekend did not go as planned. We started out to our friends on Saturday afternoon, then my husband did not feel right (his heart). We stopped by my Dad's and he took him to the ER. Three hours and a number of tests later they said he was OK, that it was stress. He needed to cut down on the stress in his life (Ha Ha) Well by that time it was too late to go to our Fiends so my Dad and Step Mom had us stay for dinner with them. Then we went home and went to bed. :Zzzz:   On Sunda

We have only done it once since the stroke, it should be fun. They live about an hour away so it a bit of a drive. They came up to the hospital a number of times to visit me, they are good Friends. We have been Friends for over 20 years now. Their kids call us Aunt and Uncle.   Tomorrow my sister and I will go to see the new Harry Potter movie at the IMAX(at The Hen

New brace ,bowling ball and Maple candy

Well I finally got my new bowling ball on Friday :Clap-Hands: and I got to bowl one game with it to make sure the fit was right. I bowled an 81, not great, but not bad. At this point anything that goes down the lane and I am still standing is good I guess.   Friday night I went with my Sister, brother-in-law and nephew to a street fair. I got to give my nephew his fist taste of Maple candy and he loved it. We have a great time I am so glad I have my scooter so I can go on these outings

Another delay

No bowling ball this week there is a big bowling show some where so there are no deliveries this week, so I have to wait until next week for my new bowling ball. I did get to go out to lunch with 4 women I used to work with this week and that was fun :chat: , I miss work. The people I worked with were great and I miss seeing them everyday, I was there for 15 plus years, It's hard to be home every day now. I still get email's from some of them now and then which is nice.   The doctor fin

Another Week

Well we ordered my new 8 pound bowling ball last week, should be in sometime this week, :happydance: maybe I will get to go bowling again this week, I hope so. I told my bowling team to find someone to replace me for this season, because I will not be ready to bowl on a league by the end of Aug, but my new goal is to be ready for next season. It was hard to tell them but I know it's the right thing to do. Still have not been able to order my brace yet the one Doctor was out of the office s

Bowling again

I did it I went bowling again, this time we kept score. The first game was only 66, but then we switched me to a lighter ball. I used to bowl with a 10 pound ball but I tried a 8 pound and bowled a 99 in the second game. by the end on the third game I was getting very tired so I only bowled a 84. But the point is I bowled three games, and we found that an 8 pound ball works better for me. I can't wait to go bowling again! I had a great time. :happydance:

Balance issues

Dam these Balance issues, today I am going to get my new bowling shoes, because we are scheduled to go bowling on Thursday, but that may not happen if my balance does not improve. Otherwise I will end up going down the alley with the ball. 6 months ago the stoke took my bowling away from me but with a lot of hard work I thought I found a way last month to get it back, but now it looks like the stoke in the form of balance issues is going to take it away again, this SUCKS! :Tantrum: Will I neve

First One

Well I have never Blogged before so this is a first for me. Watching Fireworks with small children is great. To see the wonder in their eyes and the smiles on their face as the fireworks light up the sky. To hear their OH and AH and the laugher is so much fun. I got that chance this weekend with my nephew Henry (23 months). There was a time right after I had my stroke in Jan that I did think I would ever get that chance, but I did! :happydance: The past six months has been very hard, but ti
