The sign over the door read "Sit long...chat much" and that is pretty much what we did.   Good food, good conversation and good friends are very hard to beat.   Also some thank you's to the friends here at Strokenet. Thanks to G (Gunther) and Heather (g's wife) for your phone call.   Thanks to Frank (Hobbes) and Juretta (Frank's wife) for your text message.   Thanks Bonnie for keeping

Lost my email access

Hello   Yes Perry there is such a time. (I think) LOL   But it is only 11:00 pm now so I hope that tonight will be an earlier night.   I just posted a question on the board about loosing access to getting my email on the site since the board look changed.   I know that it is there cus I was just in the inox the night before it changed.   So I am not sure if it was the change in the board or just having a stroke moment eh.   Oh well patience right. I guess it will sort itself ou

strokesurvivor.com

Good morning to everyone   It's 3:30 am and I don't have any idea why I am still awake. While I was net surfing tonight I happened upon a very interesting website.   strokesurvivor.com   If you haven't been there it is worth having a look.   A very interesting story about a young stroke survivor and how he and his caregiver wife (of four years) have accepted and adapted to the stroke event in their lives.   They have gathered together quite an interesting array of tips, tools and

Another 40000 klicks

Good afternoon   Well I made it. Sunday Dec 4th and that means that I have managed to live one more year. The odometer has turned up another 40,000 k eh. (kilometers in Canada eh)   Well maybe that is a bit of a streech. LOL   I do a lot of walking these days, watch my diet as best as I can and keep the stress level as low as possible.   In my mind it feels like I just turned 20 but the bod says that it is only willing to do so much.   A little bit then...rest... a little bit then

The shortest day of the year

Hi all   Just sitting here thinking..... Neighbours are going to call the fire department. LOL   The clock just turned over to a new day and also a new month. December 1st.   The last month in 2005. Is it me or has the year slipped away at a faster pace then I would've believed.   I guess the trip to the West coast in Feb/March put a bit of a hole in the winter.   The warm fall with no snow has (I am sure) made a difference as well.   So now there are only twenty days to go til

Strokeclub

Well hi   We had the meeting at the hospital board room on Thursday morning. I was the only survivor that showed up.   (I guess we have no survivors in the area or they are all shy)   Since the stats say that 200 people on Prince Edward Island suffer a stroke every year then I am sure that there are survivors in the area.   Anyway Lori from the PEI Heart and Stroke had a nice chat and she asked if she could give my name to some people (survivors and caregivers) in other areas of the

(will try to do a quick blog)   Then I looked at my blog and saw that I havn't blogged since Nov 15th. Time has been flying by this last week.   The lady that I work with at the office went into hospital last Thursday for a hip replacement operation.   So Friday I was in the office all day. Cyberspace...A wonderful place!

Cyberspace....   Cyberspace is a wonderful place for stroke survivors.   In Cyberspace the effects of our strokes seem to melt away.   I can run faster than ever. Perry can talk up a storm. Peg can hear every word that is spoken. Pam can be whoever she desires to be.   Oh what a place...Cyberspace.   We can have so much fun when we have a virtual party in cyberspace. Anything can happen (within reason)   I totally enjoyed the 4000 member party. (missed Steve)   Also looking

I gotta check the pantry

Hi everyone   Well it's Sunday nite and I have just checked my emails and talked to my sister on MSN Messenger for the first time. Yep she is back on line and says that she is determined to learn how to use the computer.   I answered a couple of emails that she had sent yesterday and managed to get her on audio on Messenger. I think it went pretty smoothly. I sent her the link for the Harmony Lane blog and explained to her how to bookmark it in her favourites.   She said that she wants

Hello Strokenet world   Gary here again.   I know "Shock and Awe". I can't believe that my last blog was on August 1st. (almost two and a half months ago eh)   Well this blog thing does not seem to come naturally and I Think that I need some practice as well as some training.   So...to that end I am going to take a blogging rest here and try to develop my blogging skills on an outside blog.   I have started a blog on "Blogger" called "Harmony Lane". (after where I live) Here is a

Hay... I'm off page two!

Good August to everyone.   I woke up this morning moving my left wrist back and forth (flexing). Not huge but hay it is moving and obviously my buddy the brain has figured out that I want it to flex.   So I tried to rotate it as well. Not so much movement there but it is very relaxed when I do my rotation excersises. (using my right hand to move it back and forth.)   My left arm is feeling quite relaxed now and it slips easily into my left pants pocket when I am out walking.   My l

So here they are.   Gary:   Botx does wonders first time, but later dosage, has to be higher nothing wrong in it, rebound from botox is strong, I have had it 3 times for m

So I promised you a video on Botox!

Hi   Here are the videos (3) on the Botox type treatments.     Stroke Recovery information and videos   Interesting eh   Also here is a quick update:   First I have experienced a relaxing of the arm since getting the injections on Thursday.   As it has relaxed it has dropped down and hence my centre of gravity is changing. As my COG changes I have to adjust my balance.   I am also noticing that the stress points in my back are changing as well.   I was able to put my

A GOOD Botox day?

Well today is July 21 st 2005 and I received my first treatment of Botox injections. (35 months post stroke)   It took about 30 minutes and consisted of the following.   1) Taken into the examining room to wait for the doctor.   2) Doctor comes in and tells me that I will need to remove my shirt for the procedure.   3) I take off the shirt and lie down on the examining table face up.   4) The doctor "Tests" me at this point. range of motion of the hand, wrist, elbow and shoulder.

Long day ...boy am I tired

Howdy   I was up by shortly after 7 this morning. Packed a lunch and met my ride to the office by 7:45.   Spent the day on the computer doing billings for jobs that are now finished.   This was an extra day at the office as I was there yesterday as usual.   Got home by 5:30 and had a quick supper. Changed my clothes and was ready to be picked up for a meeting that lasted till 9:30.   I had phone calls to make and emails to check. I also took the time to log in to chat for a few to

Birds, bees and other things

Howdy   First, just because I said birds, bees and other things I want you to know that this blog is about "Birds, Bees and Other things" Not sex!   First the birds. Well this morning I had a couple of American gold finches playing chicken with a ruby throated hummingbird at the feeder. Then came the blue jays, blackbirds and crows. Weaving his way in and out between the birds was the chipmunk.   Well that is the morning rush at the feeder and the birds and the chipmunk provide hours o

I'm still on the dreaded page two

Hello   Yep still here. (page two)   It's a good thing that I happen to be associated with a company that does mold remediation. (cleanup).   So if it gets too bad in here we will just have to break out the "mold busters".   Asha if you read this I did find some information on the "Big Bike for Stroke" that I was asking about in chat the other night. I composed a blog post but Mum (Jean) had to have me put it in quarantien until it can be approved by "Upper Management". (who knew)

"Big Bike for Stroke" degree in Funology eh

Hi   Here is some information on the "Big Bike for Stroke" fund raising events that are being held accross Canada this summer.   My sister rode the big bike in Surrey B.C. and told me that she was able to raise 300 dollars with her ride. (it looks like a lot of fun and impressive funds being raised as well)   She sent me a white t shirt and red Cap with the "Big Bike for Stroke" logo on them. (cool)   I have already been asked about the logo and what it is all about.   So here is

Good Grubs!

Well Denny has an interesting food item with his Chocolate ants thing. I hope that Pam read that one and I think that must have been who brought the ants to the PJ party last nite.   Jean you old softie you put lobsters in the pot head first after the water comes to a full boil. (That way they don't suffer).   I wonder if Frank could russle us up some rattlesnake. I know from experience that seafood chowder is an interesting dish in Tampa Bay.
