Neuro Visit!!!!

Took Mike to his neurologist for his monthly visit yesterday. All went well! He was really pleased with the progress Mike is making. Says he is gonna be one of the STROKE SUCCESS STORIES!!! He believes in 6 months to a year he should gain most of his functions back. Isn't that awsome! Talked to him about the vision going and coming, he has no idea. Said he has not herd of that happening. Thinks it could be caused from BP dropping, wants us to stay off meds for BP and keep a log till next month.

What's up with this vision?

I get so frustrated at this stroke thing! Mike and I went to town today to pick up a few things. He dicided to walk instead of use his chair. He did really well for the most part but got tired in one store and had to sit down for a few minutes. Then we walked up the street to the next store and went inside, the clerk was coming down an aisle on our left side and asked if he could help us. Mike said "sure, but where are you?" I looked up just as he looked looked down at me and he said " It's gon

Gotta give him a big "ATTA BOY"!!!

Last night he wanted me to drive him to the store to get some smokes, I know he needs to quit but that aint happening just yet, so I did. He said I want to go in on my own and see if I can do it. I agreed but made him let me walk with him just in case. He got in the truck and out by himself. Opened the door of the store and did his business went back to the truck got in and back home up the steps and into the house all by himself! He was totally worn out but pleased with himself! I think we can

No more in-home OT!

I don't know if this is a good thing or not but they have taken Mike off the in-home OT schedule. The pain in his wrist is so bad they say they can't do anymore for him. Now until we can get him on Medicaid we have to do his therapy on the arm and hand ourselves. PT still comes twice a week but they want to send him to Outpatient therapy as soon as he can because they have reached a stand still also or so they say. I see a lot more things they could work with him on but they seem to think there

Found The Place!

For all of you don't know, Mike and I are not married yet. He proposed to me June 13. We have been together for 2 years and I never dreamed he would ever remarry. His wife of 30 years passed away 4 years ago and he had told me that he would never marry again. I accepted this as I was just coming out of a bad marriage myself when we ran into each other. Well things change and now he has popped the question . I think he is more excited about the ceremony than I am if that is possible. So now for t

What a Day!!

Woke up this morning and made coffee around 6:30am. Watching the news and just relaxing. I hear something in the other room that sounds to me like the noise Sparky, that's the name Mike has chosen to call his power chair, makes when you move the joystick. I get up and walk into the den to find Mike coming through the living room with his hemi walker!! He has gotten out of bed and is walking to the kitchen trying to suprise me! After the shock of seeing him alone walking without a "guard" by his

Could it have been a seizure?

11pm laying in bed Mike gets up to go to bathroom, next thing I here is the powerchair bumping the door frame. I get up to check on him and he is incoherint and can't speak to me. I get the chair moved so I can get through the doorway and he is soaking wet from head to toe with sweat and it looks kinda like he is choking on something. He can't speak to me at this point so I lift his head get in his face and yell can you hear me? His head bobbles very loosely and finally he says he is sick so I g

OUCH That Hurts!!

My poor Mike! He loves his electric wheel chair but I am about to take it away from him!! He just can't seem to stop hurting himself with it! Today he went to the living room to retrieve his wallet from his vest that was on the back of a chair and in some freaky way he got the vest hung on the lever of the chair making it roll foward and smashed his already swollen and painful "bad foot" as he calls it into the wall crushing it between the foot rest and the wall. Luck was with us as it didn't ca

Will he be the same again?

The love of my life had a stroke on May 5,2012. Pre stroke he was a very talented man, played guitar, sang, awesome cook and dearly loved riding his Harley "Babe". Now he can do none of that. He is paralized on his left side and also has left side vision cut. He has no pleasures in life it seems. We use to play games on the internet where we would join game rooms and play together now his vision has put a stop to even that simple pleasure. Watching TV together is a joke, he can only see half the
