wow i agree that is a problem.... i wish i could help -- but i just wanted to reach out and say ouch..... mabey a motorized wheelchair to at least minimize the wheel chair useage for your hand??? cortisone shots will either work or not and i have heard of them lasting for a long time or not working at all or only for a short time.... But make sure the person doing the shot really really knows what they are doing... do you ice your hand or take a antiinflamatory like ibuprofin??? kind of like a band aid i know but its all i can offer. nancyl

Here is my story, I have carpal tunnel in my good hand! Some mornings I have to shake it vigorously to get the feeling back! I try to exercise it all I can still it hurts so I use the Icy Hot with the rub on ball applicator top! where I can't reach my wife gets to that area! Then I take gabapentin and tramadol for pain and sometimes arthritis pills too!

I got a pain pad with heat and vibrates too to get the feelings back! I get the cortisone shots in my knees every three months by my arthritis doctor but never had them in the hand! I had a crazy nurse one time wanting to put an IV in my good hand I told her no way, how am I going to use the toilet myself? She said Oh, I hadn't thought about that! I'm a one handed guy and could never use a wheelchair or walker so I got a scooter and I drive! That's how I get by when my right hand hurts. I got a little use in my left hand and fingers but if I take my eye off it what ever I'm holding will drop out of my grip!

I have heard of people dipping their hand in melted paraffin is a crock pot at 120 degree temps. I've tried it and it seemed to help, but, you have to find what works best for you. I hope this helps.
