I had a job interview today....I may not retire...

I had a job interview today. it is a different position. This is at a call center. I will be learning all about medicare part D insurance and drug reviews. This job will be full time and with so little stress. The only problem is the distance. It is a 40 minute drive during off peak hours. but, I do have the option of the park and ride and taking the express bus. I get a month of training. I like the idea of something different. I will literally have an 8 to 5 job and at a desk. Not on my feet for 10 to 14 hours a day. What a change. There is a pay decrease ...but it is a switch for the working conditions....no threat of robbery or legal lawsuits and less stress and off your feet. I do believe that the decrease pay is worth the change. I am excited.

I really am too young to retire right now. 3 weeks at home being a full time caregiver is making me crazy.!!! I feel that for my sanity the job will be good for me.

Tonight, I also got a call from another potential employer. This was for an off site filling position. This would also be alot less stress. No retail interaction. Sort of like mail order. but even less than that. This are just fills scripts for the day locations for Walmart. I am a little interested in this. It is closer and the pay would be better. but, I would like to learn the new job.

I guess that i am not too old to learn a new skill.

I had gotten my old caregiver a job with a friend of mine. i called her and asked her if she knew of somebody else that would like a caregivers job. She told me that her daughter is interested. I will be talking to her tomorrow.

Who, knows ....I think that I will go with the new situation. I need a change.

i talked it over with William. He wants me to do whatever is best of me. I really did work with William. But, his stamina is so small. He needs alot of rest. I just wear him out in 3 hours and then he needs to rest for 4-5 hours. I think that a paid caregiver can do just as good a job.

I will feel better with a job. I think that 5 more years or so will get me to medicare age. By that time i should be an expert at the medicare law.

WEll, I am still thinking of my options.

Ruth :

congrats with new job. pray to God & do what you feel is best for both of you. please let us know what you decide. BTW filling of scripts sound more closer to your field than other one, but ofcourse you have to do what you feel right for you both

Oh boy Ruth! I was shocked to read this, but I guess you were not ready to retire yet. My husband "retired" three times as he was not ready, but then went back to work part time.

Only you can know what the decision should be. Good luck and let us know. I'm glad William supports you in this.

OK my dear fellow Texan, think no longer, the job with so little stress sounds good to me, but I wasn't there for the job interview so choose the one you feel and think will be more satisfying for YOU!! Of course that is sorta hard to do when you really don't know all of what each job requires of you!!!

Me not knowing what filling scripts would require you to do, hopefully sitting down off your feet, but paying more, sounds better since you are a little interested and figuring your SS pay for later years when you are ready to draw your SS, that sounds great to me plus that job being a bit closer to home for you!!

The choice is all yours according to William so be happy and go to work, you got to figure both jobs pay more than William does!!! (just kidding) Let us know what job you get!!!

Oh Ruth: while not surprised, I am so happy for you. I knew when the time was right for you, that something would come along to fit you.

You spent so many years learning and educating yourself. What you do is not a job, it is a calling. I do so feel badly for the next generation, because they just don't seem to get that.

One finds something that draws them, talks to their "soul" if you will. It is in your essence, your person. It can be put on hold, set aside for some time; but it is always there, needing attention of some sort, reminding one of just who one is.

As to the positions, you go with what you feel is right for you. I love the idea of moving into a new area. The training and learning will give you something to focus on, be yourself, get you away from "stroke" even for just a bit. Expanding your experience and knowledge. But, I also know William is your number one priority, so the "filling" position may just fit the bill. You can walk right into it and be comfortable.

I have had a rotten day and you just made me smile and my heart sing. Thank you for that. I know you will do what is right for you and William, I have no doubt about that. And whatever choice you make, it will be well thought out and planned, because that is who you are.

Yahoo! Am toasting to you right now. You rock! Debbie
