Positive Attitude
Everything can be taken from a man but one thing; the last of the human freedoms – to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one’s own way. Viktor Frankl
There is no better time to see someone's positive attitude than when everything is going wrong. A positive attitude does not mean to be gleeful that something bad happened. It means to know that life still exists and we will go on in spite of our circumstances. It means to know your tragedy, it's stumbling blocks and pitfalls and to know you can side-step them and have prepared to survive them when you cross them.
I will not waste my time on asking why nor laying blame--not on Doctors, God, myself but rather I will accept what is right this moment and do it with a smile. I will take this moment and only this moment--not what I had nor wish for, this moment and I will do the best I can with it. I may not like it. The load may get heavy to bear and at times I may grumble. But the measure of a man (or woman) is not how many times s/he falls, but rather how many times s/he gets up.
I will admit when I need the help of a friend and when I find a friend has stumbled along the path, I will reach my hand toward them. To me, that is positive attitude and is what has brought me through a lifetime of adversity. As Maya Angelou once said "I may be changed by what life hands me but I refuse to be reduced by it."
