Hello every one, have not been on stroke net like I do every day , got a bug on my computer. Do people not have better things to do? So I am using my grandkids one, funny how they want to use it when I get on!

So Saturday I got up very early, got husband out of bed I don't drive and went to help with an Alzheimer's walk. It felt so good for me to go and volunteer. I was so scared that I do something wrong. I wanted to part of it, since my Mom has the beginning of this sad thing!

I got there at 7am, and was put to work with helping giving out T-shirts. Great fun , hard work there was over 2,000 people! It hit me that so many families are affected. The T-shirts have a space at the bottom where you can write the person name that you are walking for. Also saw how much work goes into these walks. What was great how many young people were there.

I leave there feeling good, and make a promise that I will do more volunteer work. :thumbsu:

Good for you Yvonne.  My Mum had Alzheimers and it was a sad last eleven years of her journey.  I will never forget all those lovely people who supported me during that time.  Thank you for being a part of someone else's journey with this debilitating disease.  You may never know how much you have helped to make someone else's day a good one but you did.

such a great organization to go & help out. My dad had alzeimer & It was hard on every one involve in his life's journey. I feel volunteering is best thing to do. It helps you more than you help others

I am glad you went & helped out

Hi Yvonne

You are a sweet and caring person for getting up and out to do this for others despite your own challenges. I know how scary it is when you go out and meet others at first and that you wanted to not make any mistakes but you seem like someone who just pours out caring and can go with the flow.  I am glad you left feeling wonderful and I bet you felt valuable and in the midst of life.  I wish that I could be involved with this and you have lit a fire now that I think I will check out what is going on in my neck of the woods, Thank you for reminding me that the best way for me to take care of myself is to take care of others sometimes.

I am impressed by your ambition too because it isn't easy getting through the day some times and there you were doing an important job.  I hope that I can do some volunteer work too because it sounds like you had a great time.  Thanks for doing that and sharing,

Pam
