Long Winter

Wow - it has been a long time. But I think Spring is tiptoeing in - LOL. Finally a week with temperatures above freezing - hasn't happened since Christmas - maybe one day in January.

Last winter it was shovel for two days, storm but that pattern only lasted two weeks. This winter it lasted 2 1/2 months. The new snow removal team is terrific. I still had to do the deck. It is funny, people kept telling me I did not have to do it. Contractor Pete reminded me that our deck is 30 years old. But even more important: the deck is an emergency exit for us. We did have to have the roof raked after the two early blizzards - 2 feet between the storms and I am so glad I scheduled it and it was not an emergency. The decision to retire last summer was a wise one.

Bruce is well. Thankful we are not mostly housebound anymore - LOL. He had his six month check up with his PCP and everything is good - his diabetes well under control and his Peridontist has put off any major dental work. So two benefits to the winter - Bruce was meticulous with his mouth care and with a lot of help, we have changed our diets.

So now it is catch up with all the appointments we had to reschedule and the exciting news is we are beginning to plan a trip to New Mexico. I am not completely convinced I can or even want to do this - but some things are shaping up nicely and have had a lot of help from our travelers here.

Niece Melissa had a beautiful baby boy January 2nd and family was in this past weekend for our Grandniece's fifth birthday - so a wonderful celebration.

Slowly pulling myself out of my winter blues. Fortunately my bird feeders have kept me entertained and sane. And interaction with neighbors Cliff and Gloria.

You are right it has been a long, long winter so much so I can hardly believe the 20th, next Friday, is the FIRST DAY of Spring for this year... And to think I'm in Texas, no wonder many of the residence people in your area goes south to Florida for the winters....

The other winter destination is Arizona but it can rain there so much until getting around can be disrupted when traveling by car... All the drains are filled with sand from the early sand storms when you can barely see three feet in front of you and the water has no place to go so the streets get flooded very easy with any amount of rain...

You would think it would soak in the sand but it doesn't... I didn't know you had retired so happy retirement to you I bet Bruce is a happy man you being home most of the time... I really wish my wife would retire from the bank but she wants to do 10 more years there....

You and Bruce are both doing well since your retirement.  Bruce loves having you home and therefore is doing better.  You are enjoying Bruce being better and that makes for a happy home.

Enjoy your spring weather coming up!

It's good being able to see the ground this week and a little green grass in spots but no leaves on the trees yet they are still bare!!!
