Well, what do you know?

Following the advice of a friend on this site I went searching the web for TBI support sites. For those who don't know TBI stands for Traumatic Brain Injury, which I suffored 25 years ago.

I found a few and scanned their message boards and decided that it would be redundant to join them. The only differences between those sites and this one is that TBI is used in place of stroke, and I'd be classified as a survivor instead of a caregiver.

So instead of reading and posting the same things on two different sites, I'll just stick to my online family here biggrin.gif . Maybe I can just start calling myself a survivor? smile.gif

Michael,

Let's coin a new phrase around here: caregiver/survivor. You're not the only one who posts that have been on both sides of the fense. The first word in the phrase could be the current status and second moving down in your personal history.

Hi Mike and Jean

Here is a phrase that I have been using for awhile now "Caregivers are survivors too".

That is how I feel as the caregiver has in many ways gone through many of the same stroke events as the stroke survivor but still has the responsibility to hold things together. So in many ways caregivers are every bit the survivor that the stroke survivor is.

Also we are ALL part of the stroke family and as such require each others support.

Thanks for being here....

Gary nailed it on the head....caregivers are survivors and we are all family and interact with each other...

with inteaction with each other we can more understand what the other is feeling and see from each others perspective.
