We went to the doctor,(rehab/physical med) on Monday and I was evaluated for my next round of Botox for my arm and leg. They have become pretty tight again and I am hoping to uncurl the first digit on two of my fingers. While we were at the appt. The doctor happened to casually mention tht the head of neuro-surgery had told her that I was the worst bleed they had ever seen make such a good recovery. Then she said ,"you may not know this, but you were clinically brain-dead when they took you into surgery. Not only had I not been told this little piece of info. My husband says he was not told before signing the consent form. He was told that things didn't look good and there was nothing to lose. Ummm.... excuse me! I think I might have thought there was yeahrite.gif Well I guess it's a good thing my huband made that decision or I wouldn't be here babbling blahblah1.gif right now. Gosh do I love that man. He saved my life!!He has also kept me going through the whole ordeal.

brain death is defined as the irreversible loss of all brain functions.

Brain death is defined as the irreversible loss of all functions of the brain. It can be determined in several ways. First - no electrical activity in the brain; this is determined by an EEG. Second - no blood flow to the brain; this is determined by blood flow studies. Third - absence of function of all parts of the brain - as determined by clinical assessment (no movement, no response to stimulation, no breathing, no brain reflexes.)

A person who is declared brain dead is legally dead. (from transweb.org)

you COULD NOT have been brain dead. i don't know why your doctor told you that.

anyway, keep on with the awesome work that you are doing for your recovery!
