more things about me (from 64 to 82)

64. I gave up smoking 12/31 and it's now been two days (almost 3) but I am cheating - I will start smoking again when I reach 75! I figure if I get there, I'll have it made!! and it makes it easier to be able to say that there will be another ciggie.

65. As I've said before, I know how lucky I am, and maybe the city of New York will see reason and stop fighting my pension. My court date is now Jan 17.

66. The reason the city keeps fighting me is because they never gave line of duty pension for a stroke. They say strokes are not line of duty, but they never had a case like ground zero before. If anybody has proof of the toxins we breathed in, please write to me with it.

67. I will be so happy when this is finally settled. In the meantime, life goes on.

68. Maybe I should take piano lessons - that would make my right and left sides communicate with each other - and I would like to be able to play music.

69. I have a piano, always meant to take lessons, even gave my daughter lessons, but haven't had it tuned in years.

70. January will be a busy time, yoga lessons are starting up, the group of retired firefighters is meeting again, and I'll try to get piano lessons.

71. I just finished PD James novel "The Lighthouse" and really enjoyed it even though I didn't figure it out before she told the readers.

72. I'm glad the blogs are back, today is Jan 10 and I haven't written anything in several days.

73. I went to a group therapy session today, actually it is just a group of retired guys like me who didn't plan on retiring. Most of the other guys are gettiing used to retirement, so am I.

74. Retirement isn't so bad. I miss going to work though, especially the camaraderie in the kitchen and the excitement of being at the center of things.

75. I especially miss it when I watch the news and see people I used to work with being interviewed.

76. Tomorrow is a meeting with retired firefighters and the Red Cross about disaster work. I want to tell them how there are people like me who are volunteering to do something in a disaster, but keep getting turned around so much that eventually we say, "I give up" and then all that volunteerism is wasted.

77. Thursday is yoga lessons again (after a hiatus of several months). I hope I remember most of it. I know it helped my balance when I was doing it.

78. Thursday is also a reunion of people from my old firehouse. I'm looking forward to it. It will be hard to not smoke but I know I can do it, after all, the physical addiction is gone by now after 12 days without a cigarette.

79. This is getting easier.

80. I have been going to weight watchers meetings since last year. I lost about 25 pounds. But in the last month, I have gained back almost 10 pounds. Anyway, Friday, is our end of the year party, and I am going to that too. I am trying to get my wife to go with me to weight watchers but she won't, she would like it and possibly her health would improve. I'll keep trying to get her to go.

81. I like yoga, and didn't think I would. It is very relaxing and good for balance.

82. I looked again at the title of this entry and changed the number from 100 to 82. I'll get back to you when I can.
