California Zucchini Bake

I got this recipe from a guy I worked with back in the 70's at a copper mine in AZ.

1 lb. lean ground beef

3 medium zucchini, thinly sliced

1/4 cup sliced green onion

2 tsp salt

1/4 tsp garlic powder

2 tsp chili powder

1 (7 oz.) can green chiles, diced

3 cups cooked rice

1 cup sour cream

2 cups grated Jack cheese, divided into 1 cup portions

1 large tomato, sliced
