Kelley & I went to the American Legion Post #14 in St. Petersburg, FL tonight for their Valentines Day Ball. I'm not really sure why, but we had the best night out that we have had since before his strokes! We even DANCED!!!!! And multible times!!!!!! I can't remember when the last time that we danced was!! It wasn't anything fancy but it felt so good to just be on the dance floor with our friends again. It really was a wonderful night.

It's so strange that I really never thought that our life together would have taken the turn that it has. At almost 48 years of age I didn't think I would be considered a "caregiver" to the man I love even though I knew he was 13 years older than I am when I first met him. I guess it just goes to show you that you need to take a step back and let go of things for a bit to figure what direction your future is going in before you grab hold and go for the ride! Before we knew he had had his first two strokes I was ready to divorce him. I am so glad now that I didn't! Things aren't like I thought they would be but I truly think they are better than if my original plans had come true.

I think that I can honestly say that I've never been happier in my life than I am at this point right now, health issues and all!!

Wow. Sounds like you really see your situation in a whole new way!

Loving someone is the best thing you can do for them and caregiving is certainly a demonstration of love tough though it may be.

Marriage is for better or worse so let's hope the worst part is behind you and things can only get better.

Sue.
